With all the recent discussions about accuracy, I want to offically on this day, April 1, unequivocally prove Tamiya's early 1/48 remote control German Jagdpanzer Kanone is accurate in all ways, even down to the never seen auxilaary power cables from the back. Below is a photo of my kanone kit built several years ago (before Tamiya started their 1/48 mm line, and before I discovered the hairspray and chipping techniques, use of pigments, and other useful information found here on Track48) and some photos of actual kanones.
Note that all of the prototype pictures were purposely cropped by the photographer to hide the fact that cables do actually come out the back of the tank. Also, when you compare the heads on the model to the crew's heads in the real photo, and use that as your measuring rule, you will discover that all the dimensions are 100% accurate (including the glacis, barrel length, heighth, track width, etc.) A common complaint about the kit is its toy like appearance since it lacks upper track rollers. As you can see in the real photos, they were not on the real ones, either. Lastly, I have it on good authority that the real kanones had their unit and national markings applied as stickers rather than painted on, thereby making the Tamiya kit accurate 100% in every way!
Hope you all have a happy April 1.
Jim
