It seems its finally available. Great Models show it as "in stock" and I just received notification that my pre-order has now been shipped.

Here's one on Ebay and it says it comes with PE parts too. It's a little pricy for a plastic kit I haven't seen assembled yet. I'm hoping for the best though!

Tamiya Flakvierling 38.....

April 5 2008, 8:34 AM

I just got the Flakvierling 38, essentially a reduced scale copy of the 1/35 kit. The figures are softly detailed and 5'3" tall, as usual with Tamiya. The Flak 38s themselves I thought were a bit soft as well, but there are a number of nice modeling touches - most of the armor shields are thin enough that you can thin the edges just a bit and use them as is without waiting for the Voyager or Hauler PE shields. There are almost as many parts as in the 1/35 kit, so detailing is good overall. The gun mount can be attached or detached from the trailer as desired. No doubt there will be PE sets and perhaps even resin upgrades, but for most folks, this kit can be built from the kit pieces into a good looking replica without much trouble. The small figures will actually play well when seated on the gun mount, especially the two loaders. Because of the guns and small details like ammo magazines, this kit will reward the careful painter. The barrels are molded completely solid, and turned metal substitutes will dress up the kit tremendously.

suggested retail from Great Models is $29.95 and they are selling for $25.45 so the Ebay guy is jumping on the fact that they are not out to all the LHS yet. I suspect his price will fall when it is out more. AND the Tamiya 20mm Flakvierling 38 kit is listed HERE for $15.00 too and you can get the neat little metal barrels for it here too!

the preceding commercial was sponsored by a consumer who has no involvement with either company BUT I will be getting my car from Great Models tomorrow

When it was first on ebay he had it at $26 and then raised it to $28 maybe because people were watching it. That place is always a rip off price but they seem to get the new 1/48 releases first. I need to see the parts before I go get one. Especially since the 1/72 are usually under $10 and the fact they don't have a Tamiya reputation for kit quality I know of. THeir figures are good though so I'm being optimistic but patient.
