I've been going over the kit for about 20 minutes now. Here are some real world impressions of the kit. The P/e? Has the correct pattern on both the turret and rear deck- which ARE different patterns. It is well done...no etch throughs at all. When you hold youe finger behind it...you CAN see the detail on your finger perfectly. Back off 1/2" and it gets fuzzy. The turret interior...what IS there is well done. The guns are VERY well done. The flash suppressor just needs some careful thinning. With the screens closed....the way the instructions show...this kit becomes a "curbside". Auto guys will know what I mean. What is visible through the screens...with a lot of overhead light...or the APF (Anal Pocket Flashlight)....will be more than adequate. The doors ARE seperate...so have it...scratchbuild or resin aftermarket it to Death. The tires have very nice tread....there are a very few push marks to deal with in places....but overall- the detail given is just as good as Tamiya's....
The fit of the two hull pieces look like they may need slowly cajoling into alignment as glued....maybe some minor P/e needed for the exterior.....but overall...I am THRILLED with the kit. Good decals...ease of assembly(a 1/48th hallmark,remember?)...and something we have begged for!! I am very happy...build it and they will come!!
A combined resin exterior detail set of packs, tarps, helmets, etc. would be great(HEY, Wake UP, Bob!!). The detail is there...just not evident in pictures. The fuel access even has the little lift up U handle molded on the surface of it!!! Light cables...brake lines....that's about it.....An easy evening build....and SOOOOO many theaters to place it in!!
Mine?....Will be parked by the AB41 in Afrika..."Conference between Allies" ...German figures are out there- just waiting on the Italians!!!
Any questions...ask away!!!
have you ordered the CD? Mine was mailed yesterday...and he has 4 new pictures.
as soon as it arrives I will be planning to build with some actual scratch building, I hope
