Sorry folks but we are phasing-out the solid cast Sherman Turrets we have, of course that's the bad bews. The good news is we are coming out with a new series of highly detailed hollow-cast turrets with options such as raised or lowered periscopes (loader's one can be set in a rotated position), optional detailed gun mounts and mantlets, OPEN pistol ports options, detailed and more accurate Cupola's and hatches. Of course they'll all have casting and serial numbers in the proper places and correct size air ventilators. They will be sold to fit either Tamiya or Hobby Boss kits. The first two will be available next week. So what about the other stuff for this year? It's coming too AFTER i find out what Tamiya is up to!

there are a couple of turrets I'm interested in so that is good news. When will your direct vision slot hulls be available? I would like to order all the things I want at once

Now......NOW you announce this, after I spend an hour breathing resin dust to hollow mine out with my dremel!

Seriously, Bob, this is great news, just what your Sherman turrets need to be perfect!

BTW, I have an M4A3 coming down the pipeline soon, and it'll need a turret, hint, hint...

Cheers Bob, Pat

p.s. I'll be sending a few pics to you soon, for your site. P.

FYI Bob,
since you are planning a direct-vision slot hull, I thought this might help. The Baldwin Locomotive plant made direct-vision hulls up until the end of production in 1943. Baldwin hulls were also known for having 90 deg. vertical rear plates. Here ares ome pictures to illustrate this:

check out this site for more pictures, especially the M4 105mms

Howdy Gents! Thanks for the link to the pics Marlowe, some really good shots in there. The Direct vision M4 is just about done and so is the early M4A2 Upper Hull. I've slowed-down on new releases to concentrate more on improving quality and accuracy and giving you all more "Bang" for your buck. The new series of Sherman upper Hulls will have sponson covers and improved hatches along with the improved hollow-cast turrets.
Sorry to disappoint you Pat, I know how much you'll miss all those resin shavings and dust. I'll still have the molds for the old solid cast turrets in case you want those instead (chuckle-chuckle!). The high-bustle turrets are next up, have to make a new master for them. That way either Cupola can be used (Hear that Dragos?).

You might want...

April 14 2008, 8:22 AM

to keep the older versions available at a lower price. Put an "old versions" section in there. The solid versions might be just what someone needs for a closed up kit....maybe put a prefix...."X" in front of the number that it USED to have. Just my rambling for this AM.....
Thanks for striving to improve the product...we DO appreciate the effort!!!

Looking forward !

I hear, Mr. Batdorf !

Good news for my poor soul...
I have no regrets for the older turrets, I might find some good use for them... but the idea of Mr.Reed is not bad at all !
And... a corrected M4 non-DV upper hull, and a non-DV M4A2 hull with casted hoods, when we will get ?

I thought that would get your attention Dragos, good to see you are still around! The $100 question with the M4A2 is Casted or Welded hoods? Right now it is at that point where I could go either way, the rest of the conversion is finished. I had to make a new front glacis plate and put all the details back on it. Now I'm trying to figure out what type of hoods to put on it. Corrected M4 Upper Hull?
The other question is to leave the older solid cast turrets in the Product Line. Might as well!

Mr. Batdorf,

If you are already doing a M4-DV hull, the answer is simple: the M4A2-DV hull with casted hoods, because the same configurations of the front glacis plate (weld beds, antenna pot ) AND DV-hoods.

If you intend to do a M4A2 non-DV hull, the answer is also simple : with CASTED HOODS, because with welded hoods, we have from FORMATIONS.

And, more important, because an M4A2 wit non-DV cast hoods, have the same configuration of the front glacis and the same hoods variety like an M4 !

So, you can easily obtain a CORRECTED M4 upper hull ! Because, the front glacis configuration and hoods of the Tamiya M4 hull, is more appropriate for an M4A4...
