The really good news is the T-81 tracks for the Pershing are now avaliable also
Hey Luke , thats the best 1/48th news I have heard so far this year
I have several sets of Tiger/Panther and PzIII/IV tracks from WW2Productions in 1/48th and the quality is just top notch. I was really disappointed to hear they were going OOP late last year as I was only getting into the scale. Needless to say I scoured the internet for items for sale and was lucky enough to get what I got.
Now hearing that Bill is returning to 1/48th with possible new additions is just great news.
An AM producer like WW2Productions should be encouraged to stay the course and we can do that by buying direct if we are really serious in wanting to have really good quality products to complement our kits.
Fantastic news indeed, I believe that he makes the best PzKw Iv tracks, and I have been hoarding my last remaining sets since Bill stopped making them last year. I stongly urge everyone to support him with purchasing track sets, and maybe Bill will stay in production for a long time. Cheers, Alan Vandam
Hello Nik , to the best of my knowledge set #4806 Panzer III/IV 38cm would be the one, it has the hollowed out horn and was fitted to Pz.IV's A-E AFAIK.
is what they are. You won't believe the detail Bill puts into these, and the details are sharper than the Fruil tracks - the resin seems to hold the detail better than the metal. The WW2 tracks also sag very nicely even though they are not heavy at all. We do need to support Bill as much as we can, so he doesn't go away again. I think as the scale grows, we can support the aftermarket better and more of the AM companies will hang in there with us.
Here is some info that Bill Wiseman sent me describing the differences in the Panzer III/IV track sets -
"4806 is the 38cm tracks used on the very early vehicles. It has no end slots
for ice sprags.
4807 is a standard width track (40cm) and has a hollow guide horn.
4808 is again a standard width track, but has a solid guide horn.
4809 is a 40cm track, has non slip chevrons on the sole bar, and a scooped
but solid guide horn.
I hope these descriptions help."
Now I know which ones I want to order, if my payday would only hurry up .
I received the below reply from Bill. To make things a little easier. I asked Bill to cross match his Pz III/ IV tracks with the Fruil 1/35 Pz III/ IV tracks whose web site has illustrations and year of use.
Below is the info bill sent and the link to the Fruil site. Just select 1/35 scale as they do most if not all Pz III / IV types in 1/35
ATL-02 would be 4806, ATL-04 is 4807,ATL-05 is 4808, and ATL-27 is 4809, which has a funny sort of a guide horn, standard in all late pattern panzer III/IV tracks.
