Does anyone beside CMK make a conversion from a Pz. lll to the SiG 33 15cm Infanteriegeschutz? The CMK version seems to be scarcer than hen's teeth! Maybe Iron Division could make a very good domestically available kit, but I want it... NOW!!

CMK Kits

May 30 2008, 8:25 PM

Hi Leo -

Have you considered buying direct? Go to www.cmkkits.com, they have it in stock, for 20 Euros. Their site has lots of pics of the kits, and you can look over the instructions, too.

Cheers -

Malcolm

StuIG 33 conversion

This is an ideal time to drag out the sheet styrene and actually convert it yourself. One of the easiest to cut your teeth on. B
I built mine based on the Bandai Pz III sometime in 1975, and the basic conversion plans were published in "the Modeler's (sic) Manual by Robert Schleicher, Chilton Book Company, 1981.

If you are interested, I can scan and pm the drawing and text.

SiGG 33

May 31 2008, 8:42 AM

Hi Leo

I too am interested in the CMK SiGG 33 conversion. However looking on the CMK site I have a few questions.

The photo of the box with the red label seems to show the conversion based on the StuG III B hull with the earlier 2 part engine deck hatches. This would be correct. It also seems to have the right earlier airintakes on the hatches

However the other photos show the conv on a Pz III L with the later 1 piece engine hatches. This is wrong.

With the engine deck hatches the length/width sizes changed between the 2 and 1 piece hatch. So you can not just turm the air intakes on the hatches 90 degrees. Also the early and late air intakes were different sizes and shapes.

These are well shown in Panzer Tracks and Actung Panzer. I have not checked the fighting compartment so cannot comment on its accuracy.

All in all a mixed bag.

What i will do is wait untill I can look in the box or some one puts better pics on the web.

Now I have said that some will produce a photo to prove me wrong. But this would be great.

Until then I have enough to be going on with M10, Pz1V D conv, Tiger I interior,KVI and then Tims Crab !!
