To the ID guys--there has not been anything new on your site for awhile. Are there any new products available soon?

Next Month

June 5 2008, 4:03 PM

We'll be getting back to 1/48th Scale items next month. Just had a run on Braille Scale and had to build up that area alittle since the sales of those items recently increased dramatically. Unfortunately, it's just Steve and I to run the entire operation right now and we've been spread really thin lately.

I'm looking forward to some new stuff to do a combined shipping order. Anything to save the postman some bloody gasoline. $4.50 for regular in California. Good thing I'm able to ride my bike to work. Cheers

Hey! $4.50/gal is a real bargain! Today it is going for $1.50 Can/liter, which is roughly the equivalent of $6.00 US/gal. Wouldn't be surprised if it went all the way to $2.00/liter by the end of the year.

Diesel is $6 a US gallon in Seattle

June 11 2008, 12:51 AM

I was reading online that biodiesel is selling for almost $6 a gallon in the Seattle area! As I work on an M4A2 in 48th scale, the mind boggles at what the cost would be to run a 1/1 vehicle at those prices!

Best Regards,
George

£1.16 a litre here in Bristol, UK, that's about $2.26.  That's over $10 a gallon.......

£1.18 over by Brighton. It'll hit £1.50 later in the year and probably £2 next year. Then we'll see hyper-inflation on a real scale. Someone should just get an Elefant or a Sturmtiger and drive down to Canary Wharf or wherever the oil traders who do this sit and just blast them. Read here about why the prices are so high: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7425489.stm.

Heavy Metal

I Dibs on an ISU 152, though I dread to think how much it would cost to fill its tank! It's so rediculous the prices were being made to pay, it's not like there's a shortage of the stuff! Seems like a new oil field is discovered every other week. Heck theres even evidence to show it's not even a 'fossil fuel' and is a regenerating resource. If this keeps up pretty soon we won't be able to afford to ship kits down here in New Zealand 'cos no-one will be able to afford to buy them.

Not sure...

June 11 2008, 8:26 AM

It's $2.06NZ a litre at the moment. I believe its 3.79L to a US gallon? So thats $7.81NZ converted... $6 US a gallon if my maths is right.

Almost half of our petrol is tax though! Theres something like 6c road tax then government levies, on top of that 12.5% Goods and services tax. Yet the government says it wont make a difference if they scrapped the tax!

One thing about the oil price is of course the following: The models we build are made of _______, which is made from ____. Now fill in those blanks.

Don't start us UK Guys on Fuel Tax (72%+)

June 11 2008, 6:21 PM

Even Diesel over here (I'm in Leicestershire) ranges from £1.26 to £1.35 p/ltr, that's £5.40'ish p/gallon (UK 8pints), it's evenworse in other parts!!!

And only a small % of that tax is returned to the Roads/Transport infrastucture.

Last scene of Battle of Bulge movie

June 11 2008, 7:16 PM

All this talk kinda makes one think how much was lost at today's gas prices dollar in that last scene of Battle of the Bulge where Henry Fonda says something like "Blow it up, blow the whole thing up" (paraphrasing - don't crucify me for a misquote since I haven't seen it in a few months, please.) Ah, the price of war movies. Of course, I always get a kick out of the German "Tiger/Patton" tanks used in that movie.

Hey, that's just what I was saying to do with my car when it hits $6, "blow it up, blow the whole damn thing up!" There's a few inaccuracies found in that movie, eh?

June 13 2008, 8:31 AM

Glad I gave up driving! No Car Payments, No Insurance or maintenance payments and best of all, no worries about Gas Prices. Plus, I don't have people who are yacking on their cell phone rear-ending me anymore!!
