All (but probably mostly Chris Hughes),

Yesterday I received a copy of the LIONESS & LION OF THE LINE – SHERMAN M50 & M51 (Part 1). The Israeli Way by Robert Manasherob from a mail order bookstore in Italy. The back cover mentions a few upcoming titles of interest to me.

Will there be some sort of announcement when they are released? How? Where? Chris, will you be carrying the titles as you did the one above?

Thanks,

Art

BTW the store I ordered from still lists the above book, so maybe they still have some in stock.

Mixed news

According to Dr. Manasherob, there have been delays on the subsequent titles due to large increases in printing costs. As a result, he's not sure if he'll be able to get them produced. When and if they are printed I'll probably carry some. Even if I don't carry them, I'll make announcements on the web for him because he is a friend of mine.

Does Dr. Manasherob have an email address and

does he answer research questions? I'm interested in building a couple of the IDF's first Shermans. Specifically, the one named Meir (the first Sherman in the IDF) and Tamar (one of the first four or so to see combat in the 1948 war). I'm mainly looking for more information on Meir. What kind of roller arms did the bogies have? What kind of wheels did she have? Color? Any more pictures of either tank than those in the Born in Battle magazines? Stuff like that.

I would think that the Early Shermans book mentioned on the back cover of "Lioness" might have information like that, but it seems a bit problematic that the book will be published.

Thanks,

Art

Post over on ML

I'm not really at liberty to give out Dr. Manasherob's email addy. I would ask your question about the early Israeli Shermans on ML. He lurks over there and does answer questions sometimes. He can be rather secretive about stuff though. Don't expect him to post or give away pics. If he has any other pics of Meir or Tamar, they probably came out of a private collection and he won't let anyone see them until they are in one of his books, when and if they are published.
