After a long hiatus on the bench struggling with paint and markings and figures I finally brought Tim's Fighting 48th M4A4 to the front rank and finished it over the holiday weekend - thought I would fool around with some effects photos and this is what I came up with this morning. Hope you like the image - a more complete (and better focused) look will follow.

Dang......

July 7 2008, 11:58 PM

That is GREAT, Konrad. I saved the photo fast because it's the other side of ADJUNCT, and then I realized it was your model. Well done!

Just a little thing... but

July 10 2008, 11:17 AM

Hi Konrad;

I hate to even mention this, but I thought you just might like to "get it right".

I have the original 8x10 glossy of ADJUNCT and the number definitely reads...

T-147294... rather than ... 293 as you show it. The hyphen appears as well.

All the best

George Bradford

You were very true to that photo we talked about. I had a double-take when seeing your photo!

I'm looking at a photo of the original taken on 20 Sept. 1943. Did you remember to add the penant on the antennae?

Thanks Guys -

Glad you all liked the faux reality shot - here is something in better focus

I am working on a construction feature on this project, and I must say that Tim's Fighting 48th conversion is about the easiest resin kit I have ever worked with - he is simply a genius there. And those British pattern tracks – simply wonderful. Definitely will build more Fighting48th – that Crab is just too tempting.

red circle on turret roof...

July 9 2008, 6:28 PM

is that a gas warning patch? As trigger-happy as most flyboys are, I'm surprised they didn't get mistaken for a low-flying (and utterly lost) Japanese aircraft.

Pete...there is another circle (outside of the red) of blue, so I figure it is an aircraft recognition symbol.

Superb Model Konrad!

July 9 2008, 11:28 PM

Doh! My cut and paste didn't work! The other part of my post should have read:

Fantastic job Konrad! That is one beaut of a model! I have the same Fighting48th kit as well and hope I can do half as good as you did. Question: those thin wavy lines...how did you paint them? Were they hand-painted or sprayed?

You're right....

July 9 2008, 11:26 PM

Now that I look at it with your eyes I can see the blue outer ring of the RAF roundel...means they'll only get bombed and strafed by the US Army Air Corps.

Hi Konrad,

This is a really great build! I like both your pics, but I think the first is done especially well!

Hi Konrad;

Excellent work, Mate! You've done "Adjunct" proud. A cool-looking tank, done to perfection in scale. Lovely stuff here.

Cheers, Pat

p.s. I agree, Tim's stuff is of a uniform top quality.

Again, Thanks All for the Kind Words

July 10 2008, 12:10 PM

It is always very gratifying to receive the praise of such a distinguished group of modelers – thanks again to all for the support. To answer a couple of questions:

Ken, both the brown camouflage pattern and the cream outlines were entirely hand painted in acrylics (Tamiya for the brown and Vallejo for the cream) over an airbrushed OD basecoat, as I felt it would be impossible to mask this pattern in any reasonable amount of time (or get the look I was hoping for with my old Paasche H airbrush). Most of the weathering was also done with a brush - thanks to Lu Rodriguez for urging me on there.

Sean, the article will appear here on Track48.

Great Link Marlowe

August 8 2008, 11:40 AM

That is some very interesting footage - albeit a bit sobering as a reminder of the cost paid for freedom by the Canadian soldiers who fought with these weapons. I still plan to place Adjunct on a small base reminicent of the key reference photo, and seeing all the infantry in this footage I may add some for intrest.
