Nonsense once again, snivelling parasites that they are....  Back in the good old days, we would hang, draw and quarter such pondlife!

agreed

It's bad enough that I have to endure an endless parade of spam every time I look at my e-mail, but this is really obnoxious. It takes a real scumbag to do this kind of nonsense to try to scam a few bucks.

Does it even work? The only people who could possibly be more contemptible than the spammers are those who actually would fall for any their preposterous "advertising."

Like an old Marine friend of mine used to say... Life is a privelage that needs to be earned and that not everybody deserves.

This seems to be a new problem that we haven't had to deal with much till now. I'll look into seeing if Networks 54 has some kind of filter. In the meantime, thanks for pointing it out.

I just hope and pray......

That I am never asked on this discussion whether I want my boobies enlarged...or my member made bigger. I have struggled with those dilemmas on Hotmail......I just hope I never have to face them on Track48. I still spend sleepless night trying to decide...........
BTW, Have they perfected that exploding email yet???
Git 'em, Garfield!!!!!!

Is there no way of making sure people are logged in to post? Don't know if these spammers are as I haven't seen one yet but the fact that you can post anonymously isn't very secure.

Do...as far as I know, one can post without logging on.

Should I set it so that you have to log on to post?

If I try to post.......

July 23 2008, 9:59 AM

It won't let me....tells me you are NOT logged in....then I log in and I can post. I guess it isn't a "leak proof" system.....?? I always log in to post...so there is certainly no problem from my side.
The other thing would be to have ANYONE who wants to join our little user group...submit their request to join...or even just to log in to reply....to the moderators. It's an automatic approval, usually, but it DOES allow the group moderator to block or prevent anyone from "going off" on the website. Yes, it IS censorship, but one I greatly favor....I don't need to read my website and put up with lots of ranting and raving by one individual...that has little to do with the general usage of the group. I look to the site for information...news...help and tips...and the gathering of friends there. I just went through this dilemma on a Yahoo user group....a personal attack on the head of the group....and tied the group up for days...almost making Yahoo pull the plug on it. The solution?? They went in and withdrew this guys privileges....he can't post there anymore.
But this is dealing with Spammers...different, but the same in many ways......

bad apples

July 23 2008, 4:12 PM

I've frequented several other hobby forums in the past, and on the whole, most people get along pretty well, but I must say this is far and away the sanest forum of the lot! I can't remember the last time we had anything approaching raised voices, let alone the virtual fisticuffs I have witnessed on others. This place is an island of good manners, with a bunch of the most enthusiastic, talented and friendly people you could every wish to meet. If all we have to deal with are a few stray 'special offers', which the forum owner can delete as soon as he is aware of them, fantastic! Long live Track 48, a perfect 'model' (gedditt??!!) forum!
