I got a wild hair (and positive waves) to build Oddball's Sherman from the 1970 movie Kelly's Heroes. I plan on using the Bandai kit as a base.
I will need to get the DVD because I'm still not sure if the bustle was low or high and if the bogies were raised or not. It's hard for me to tell from the bits I've found on youtube.
Sounds like an ambitious project. Wasn't the Tiger built on a T-34 chassis? Oh well, lots of those around. I think you'll have a hit on your hands. Where are you getting the gold bars from?
Arthur, Do you know that Formations makes this exact thing in 1/35th?? Pull up their website and see what Rob offers with his set...and the recommended donor kits. Then look for them in 1/48th....
As for the loudspeaker...there are some in some HO kits...circus things, mostly, I believe. Whether this is close to the right size.....?? Maybe scratchbuild it using something as a donor part to start.....a pen top/cap, for instance.... Saw off and detail it from there. Dip the end in almost boiling water, then push it over a bigger shape to flair it out a little. "Creative Gizmology" is what Shep Paine called it.....
Try and post some pics as you get into it!!!

I know of the Formations set. There is also a set of 3 figures by Jaguar featuring Oddball, Moriarity and the loader (don't recall if he had a name).......1/35th.
Aside from the expense of the set, I'm toying with doing a small diorama of the railroad scene. I was just hoping that someone knew of a loadspeaker (or an appropriate starting point) in 1/48th. I'll starting haunting the local model train stores.
If you can't find one in, try thermoforming one. Kinda like vacuumforming but alot simpler for the Speaker part. Build up the back of it with plastic tubing and other bits. Takes about a half an hour once you have the Buck for thermoforming.
