Hessian Tape - Black Dog - Too Extreme??

I was marvelling at the latest Black Dog products posted a few topics down and was wondering what people thought about the two Hessian tape items. I know next to nothing about Hessian tape, other than it appears to be some sort of camouflage netting with tape. Does one errect some sort of structure and drape the stuff about, and then park the vehicle under it?

And is the depiction of the tape by Black Dog over the top, i.e. too extreme, or spot on??

Cheers,
Andrew

It looks like the tank has been taken over by some kind of alien growth! happy.gif

I agree: too much.

I agree, Andrew. The Hessian tape looks too big and too dense. Extreme is how I would describe almost averything I've seen from Black Dog. In many cases, it just looks like too much gear piled onto one vehicle, especially in the case of the German vehicles. This is just my opinion, however. I tend to like the 'less-is-more' approach.

Spencer Pollards Cromwell

Spencer Pollard did and absolutely stunning model of a Cromwell with this sort of camo applied, it was featured in an issue of his magazine a while ago. I'll look out the mag, but if you read this Spencer, could you post some pics of that model? I thought that one looked spot on.

It looked exaggerated to me as well. But I would like to remind folks that most of the Black Dog pieces are separate so you can use the stowage for many vehicles.

My thoughts, too

I really love the two sets, but the tapes almost seem too piled up(and maybe too wide)...and too many on there. On real pics you can often see the netting they are attached to showing through....I will defer to the "experts" on this, tho. Nippers and a ball bit in a Dremel might give them a "haircut", if necessary....
