I got these

January 28 2009, 10:50 PM

I received these about a week ago along with a lot of other stuff from Tim. I must say I was immediately struck with the quality of the casting of these figures. They are very nice sculpts - I just need to build something they will fit with.

Nice job Fighting 48.

Phillip, Thank you for your comments. Tim did a fine job with the casting.

I had wondered if anyone had any feelings about them due to the lack of response.

I like them and I appreciate your talents. I am a figure nut in our scale because good figures are so far and few between, but they are getting better. I am sure interest will pick-up. They are unique poses and subjects so I wouldn't be suprised if you didn't get a lot of comments.

I just have to figure how to use them. Any others planned? BTW you painted them very nicely too.

Stay in touch, I would be interested in anything you produce.

Phil

More are planned. Pixie suits next (I know they have been done before, so I'll have to come up with something original!)

I'd be interested in any subject suggestions, but they have to be British/Commonwealth. (Yes I know Germans would sell better)

What about infantry getting a lift?

I have this set too, Robert.....

.....and they are lovely! The casting is crisp, with very nice detail throughout, I especially like the chap's huge moustache, he has lots of character.
I wouls also be very interested in any other figures you may do, and I think several more British/Commonwealth crews would be very welcome. I know I'd love more from you.

Cheers Mate, Pat

Just to add mt 2-penneth...

Rob and I have discussed these figures, and their future siblings, and we have a load of ideas which would make great figure sets, but we did wonder if there were any ideas you might like to throw at us. We are quite adament that we will stick to Commonwealth subjects however, partially historical/political, partly marketing, as there will always be a preponderence of Axis subjects from elsewhere, but primarily because it is our own area of interest. As we both do this work for the enthusiasm we hold for the subject matter, doing something outside that frame would quickly become a chore, indeed an imposition, and neither of us work well under those conditions!! Time for both of us is a major consideration as well, as we have 'proper' jobs, families, other interests (We both love motorcycles! Yeah!!) quite apart from the modelling so we don't want to waste what time we can put to these projects.

Obviously more tank crew will be included, but if you have any ideas that you would like to see done as figures, do drop us a line. We are quite happy to include other bits and pieces with the figures of course, ammo boxes, jerry cans, ration boxes, tools, if it 'tells the story'.

One of my work mates Steve Johnson has painted up a pair of these first figures, I'll post some pics of these, so you can see another rendition of them in colour. If you are a little unsure of painting techniques, this link might be of interest:

Anyway, we will announce the next pack in a little while, in the meantime we have plenty of the initial set in stock!

The guy on the left reminds me of Oddball (played by Donald Sutherland) from Kelly's Heroes.....

Just a thought but how about some seperate heads? (like Hornet's in the scale that shall not be named)?

With them it would be possible to use the same figure in two or three different vehicles without a stong sense of Deja Vu creeping in.

Another idea would be canteens, mess tins etc so your men could be waving food around instead of binoculars, pistols etc.
