Picked up the Tamiya Tilly today at the LHS. Cute little thing.

Tamiya has molded the canvas cargo bed cover in clear plastic in left and right halves, and this may pose a slight problem in construction. Otherwise, it is a nicely detailed yet simple little model. Can't say for certain, but it also looks like most of the ejector pin holes will be in hidden locations.

The way that Tamiya engineered the cargo bed might also cause some complaints. Basically, it is cut in two sideways so that there will be a seam in the center of the bed and it also breaks up what can be seen of the curve of the wheel well on the sides of the bed.

The body is a single piece so there shouldn't be any alignment problems, but this will make it more difficult to make a model with an open door. Some after-market company will probably come out with a replacement body with an open door, but it will probably end up being more expensive than the kit itself, at least if you buy the kit in Japan. (I got mine for 1090 yen or roughly US$12.00, list price is 1300 yen.)

The biggest gripe is sure to be the size of the driver. He looks small even for a Tamiya figure; a lot closer to 1/72 than 1/48 if you ask me. Probably because he has to be put into the tiny closed passenger cabin.

Tilly Tilt

I'm hoping that the resin one I made for the hart kit fits if it does then all we need is someone to cast them as I still hold all the patterns!

Tilt

Cool got two kits on the way from hlj as soon as they arrive I'll see if its possible to mod the tilt to fit and I'll get back to you! Seems a shame to waist it.

Incidentally I would be moulding the original pattern which is still in my possession, it was always my model and I leased it to Hart
