I am thinking of changing the 250 halftrack to the one with the turret. I can get a turret in photo etch {or us the photo etch on a 222 and save the turret} but I need the main gun. the Machine gun is no problem but anyone know where I can snag the main gun without pitching the entire 222 kit?
I think I can snag the seating from another GREIF {make a ammo hauler} so I won't have the radios in the track, and save them for some other project
Why don't you do like I will do...take the guns from one of the 222's and convert that 222 into a 221 (single MG only) or a radio version 223 (again only a single MG). Once the plates are overlaid on the top of the 250, you won't see much inside if you keep the hatches closed.
there's barely enough room for the gun mount and crew. There is no way to avoid using the gun mount from the ICM/Tamiya SdKfz 222 a/car, unless you want to scratchbuild one. Despite some glitches and a less than sterling level of accuracy, the ICM '222 has some details and assemblies that are as good as the 1/3 Tamiya kit. The gun mount overall can be detailed a bit and look very good, but you do have to have one. I'm converting most of the ICM kits I have (6), so I'll have 3-4 surplus mounts eventually. The SdKfz 260/261 light radio cars don't have turrets, just raised roof frames with screening, so they are somewhat easier to convert.
