I had started on this (Bandai) M4a1 conversion many years ago, but was more or less stumped by the track, which was "grousered" inside and out, with the suspension bogies also spaced out to cope. Anyone have a suggestion as to what would be the best way to tackle the tracks? I had thought to get the PE grousers, but they would be doubly fragile. Also considering getting a double set of GasOline tracks, and sectioning them together back to back. Other possibilities?
For those who might not recognize this sub type, it appears to have been a fairly standardized post war upgrade for sale to foreign gummints. Has a 76mm gun mounted in the 75mm turret, plus the wider track set up. Think there is a color artwork in the older Vanguard title Shermans in Foreign Service. Think that I came across an official designation for it. May be in Hunnicut.
years ago. Like you, I'd like to build one in 1/48th. The thing I could think of was getting a set of tracks with the duckbills (Gas.o.line?), cutting off some of the duckbills and gluing them onto a length of track. Then cast that length of track.
I haven't tried this yet, but it's only thing I could think of.
is finding a 1/48 scale 76mm gun with the muzzlebreak. The last ime I looked, nobody made one. When I build my 1/35 scale model, there weren't any either. I modified a German 75mm muzzlebreak.
