Pictures are from the photos section of www.wwii.ca
I don't recall seeing any pictures of American snipers wearing the same kind of netting headress. Perhaps it was a British/Commonwealth armies practice.
http://www.wwii.ca/media-452.html

and this guy is probably the most well-known of the snipers as his picture appears in many places.

and again here:

He is the sniper in the first picture I posted, on the ground.

What jackets are they wearing? They are too short to be Dennison smocks, and they look like pullovers or anoraks, as they only open part way down the front.

In the early 1990's, I saw the last posted picture in the Junior Ranks Mess of Mewata Armouries. He was described as a Sergeant of the Calgary Highlanders.

In pics #1 + 3 they are wearing some kind of camo jackets. Pic # 2 is obviously the leather jerkin (beef jerky? happy.gif) . Late war British were issued a hooded jacket in the Dennison camo pattern, but it does not seem to be that either.

OK. In Marlow's first link above the caption states the fellow is wearing a Dennison smock, but it is certainly not the paratroopers smock for the following reasons: paratrooper smocks had a plain cuff with a strap and button, not elasticated; paratrooper smocks were much longer - thigh length with skirt pockets - and did not have an elaticated waist band; paratrooper smocks were buttoned all down the front, not just partially as this one is; and, while this one does have a camo pattern, it does not correspond to the typical pattern found on the Dennison smock. I have not read or seen where Dennison made any other type of camo jackets besides the para smocks... although I may be wrong or just uninformed. happy.gif It would be most helpful if someone more informed could positively ID this piece of clothing. I've seen a pic of a British sniper wearing a captured SS camo smock (and taking a big risk!), but this does not seem to be any kind of German clothing or camoflage (not even Italian).
