Hi Frank , thanks for the heads up on the great news of the mono bloc 88mm for the Porsche KT / early Jagdpanther/Ferdinand/Elefant
All going onto my shopping list soon
Frank , do you have any news regarding the MR Model early Jagdpanther conversion? Its months now since it was supposed to be out
All is not lost though if you want to do a Jagdpanther with the mono bloc 88mm gun. There are at least 6 photos of Jagdpanthers with the bolted collar and the mono bloc gun in the History of the s.PzJg Abt 654 book including the famous colour photo of one abandoned/ko by the road side.
Hi Paul,
glad to hear that you and Greg are on the receiving end of Piotr's work:-) So it was worth for me to ask him all the time to do the monobloc barrel. The 37mm Greyhound barrel should follow soon. Same as the short 5cm L/42 barrel for the Pz.III Ausf.J I asked him to do. Best for me is, that he made the BESA barrel I begged him to do all the time. Thanks, Piotr! Very much appreciated.
Speaking of Matthias. I'm not that often in touch with him. He, say MR Models, will be present at the
German Model Masters - 23. to 24. May 2009 in Nuernberg at the UNITED FUN shop table.
I need a couple smooth 88mm tubes and 3 or 4 of the short 50mm guns for the Mk. III, not to mention a few 37's. Have to start putting quarters in the jar today
Great job getting these into production Frank - your awesome,
Hi Frank , glad you mentioned the M.G.34 to Piotr. As far as I see it he has a number of options on how to approach the M.Gs for German Panzers/ AFV s
#1- Do a similar barrel as the US M1919A1 for the M.G 34 AA mount
#2- Do a combo set of hull M.G 34 and co ax M.G ( co ax similar to the BESA )
#3- Do a 3 in 1 set of hull/coax/AA
#4- Sets of +X of hull M.G / CoAx
As for future releases I would dearly like to see the 20mm KwK for the SdKfz 222 , a new Flak 43 / 37mm ( non tapered barrel with perforated muzzle brake ) and all the other stuff you mentioned
for sorting out the Jagdpanther production variations. The sectional 8.8cm barrel first appeared in April 1944, though monobloc barrels were used for months afterward. You can find early small welded mantlets with the later sectioned barrel and early and late bolted mantlets with the monobloc barrel. The bolted mantlet was in production by September 1944. Note that the Tamiya 1/48 Jagdpanther is the G2 model, first introduced in January 1945. Nobody yet makes a resin conversion to do any of the 1943-44 production vehicles, which have a different engine deck and a different superstructure. The Tamiya kit is great for end of the war scenarios, but it's too late to do anything from the Normandy campaign through the Battle of the Bulge.
