Hi all

Quick question. I see all sorts of variations on the colour of the safety glass used on allied and axis tanks. Tamiya tends to instruct flat black for periscopes etc but I understand a greenish tint tended to be used on both sides. Is that correct? and what colour do you guys tend to use?

Cheers
Peter

Glass colour

Hi Peter

Checking photos most of the periscope and armour glass bloks seem to have a greenish tint, caused by the thinkness of the glass.

For painting I prefer a gloss/ satin black. I use this because of scale effect. Look at glass windows in a house or car and from even a short distance and the glass looks black. In 1/48 a periscope or narrow vision block opening would appear black.

Steve Z uses 35mm negative film edges cut to size.
