Panzer 3 Variants

Hi Folks,

I have been looking into converting a Panzer 3 like the Bandai or Tamiya back to an earliermodel. Looked at Wikipedia and it mentions that the hull for the J model was lengthened, however it doesn't say how much. Has anyone got an earlier version such as an E or H on the workbench? Have any of you casting experts got one in development? I have asked this before, and maybe I'm beating a dead horse, but I think the earlier variants would sell.

Clary, I believe early Pz IIIs would sell also.....

I am waiting for Tom Jentz's PanzerTracts 3-2, which will cover the main production models from the E on, perhaps to the N, but at least through the early-mid war period, to the ausf J. There were many changes at this time, so I don't know just how far the book will go. I don't have my PzKpfw III refs out, but I can't remember what would have increased the length of the ausf J hull, except perhaps redesigning the rear tailplate area. I will try to track this down.

The next conversion set from Battalion Bits will be a PzKpfw III E/F/G conversion for the Tamiya PzKpfw III L or N. New upper hull, turret, drive sprockets.
I hope to have this available for sale in September. I will get pictures here as soon as possible.

Parts Still Needed

July 23 2009, 3:38 PM

Hey Mike -

Did you ever get any of those Panzer IVD drive sprockets made from that master I sent you? The model has been sitting gathering dust for a while now.

Cheers -

Malcolm

Great news from Belcher Bits! Mike; is the early Panzer four still going to be available for awhile? Chris Schwach

Early Pz IV

July 28 2009, 10:00 AM

Yes, still available. As Malcolm stated above, he had provided me with an early IV D drive sprocket, but it still needs work to better represent that double ring. What I give is a drive sprocket more appropriate for late IVD or IVE.
