I was just informed by a family member that Frank passed away last night following a stroke on Sunday. Should I get any more information, I will pass it along.

I wonder if that had anything to do woth the big kerfluffle while we were in Columbus, and his announcement that he was quitting 1/48 modeling altogether. He was a source of much information in the industry and our scale in particular, and will be missed.
If you get a chance please pass my condolences to his family.
Always a good source of new product information Frank was very helpful when I was looking for Schatton Modellbau items finding me all the information I needed to get the items I wanted.
We are all going to be a little worse off without him.
Very saddened to hear this news. Frank was a very good pipeline for the new hobby item news. I'll miss that , his help and the passion he had for the hobby.
May you find rest and peace, sincere condolences to his family.
That's very shocking news. I feel bad for him and wonder if he was having symptoms beforehand as well. He was a nice guy usually on the forums until recent upsets. Send our condolences to his family.
Say its not true. I would like more details please if they become availble. Very very sad.
I am sure he did more for our scale than I will ever know. But more importantly I am sure he will be missed by his family and friends and my thoughts are with them.
Definatley makes you reflect on how we treat people we interact with here.
... especially after the diatribe launched against Frank on this site just a few days ago. Just goes to show that what we get so worked up about is, after all, of little concern in the scope of things.
My condolences to Frank's family and to those who really knew him.
I just learned about Frank's passing and it was shocking news. The circumstances seem tragic. My deepest condolences to all his friends and family and prayers for him and his loved ones. Frank always had the scoop on the latest 1/48 armor happenings and I will miss his informative and timely posts. A sad day for Track48 as well.
IM very shocked as it was only acouple of days ago he was contruibuting and makeing his veiws known,IT JUST SHOWS us all how quick things change,.Please pass on my condolences to his family thank you wayne
What a shock!! In our little "dustup" on a previous thread, Frank listed all the things and contacts he had been involved with. He WAS a big influence in our segment growing the way it has. He will be greatly missed....my sincere condolences to his friends and family......
I never knew him in person -maybe we just exchanged a couple of e-mails- but his blog was one of my first sources when I got in contact with the quarter scale military modelling community, and his contributions to this and other forums have always been of great interest.
IMHO, he has been a fundamental figure in the renaissance of our beloved scale.

Such sad news

Frank did us a great service with his regular product and news updates. i can`t help feeling we have lost an important cog in the machinery of this forum.
I do hope that the recent shenanagins over on ML did not contribute to his passing.
I was never privileged to meet Frank in person, but felt like he was a friend, as we did correspond from time to time, and he was always very helpful and pleasant when communicating the latest hobby info to the forum members. His presense will be missed, and I feel sad for his family who will of course miss him even more. Rest in peace, Frank.
Sincerely,
Andrew
Just a sense of disbelief, really. Frank was always a very knowledgeable person, and with some contacts in the AM community. We have such a good and tight little community here on T48 and this really saddens me.
I was very saddened to hear of Franks passing. He was directly responsible for getting me into the 1/48 scene, and helped with the development of nearly all the track sets. His passion for the hobby and quarter scale will be sorely missed. My condolences to his family and friends in this difficult time. He was a friend, and I will miss him. R.I.P. Frank.

Shocking and sad news

I was quite shocked to hear of Frank's untimely passing. He was a strong advocate for 1/48 scale armour and he motivated me into expanding my line, although he didn't live to see the V36 diesel engine come into being. We in this community have lost a real spark-plug and will need to continue Frank's contacts and devotion to this part of the hobby.
My thoughts go out to his family at this time.
Auf wiedersehen, Frank.
I hope we all "perspectivise" after reading something like this. I started an IMPS chapter in a time and place farawy, and it devolved into factions, needlessly.
Ememies were created....all because of...okay, I still do not know why!
I hope the Great Spirit gives him a painting room.
I hope we all keep enjoying the hobby, much as kids do!(the few who model)
I hope his family is OKAY. I did not know him, but he sure had knowlege of his hobby.
My goodness, I go away for a few days holiday and come back to this news. Frank was instrumental in getting the M4A4 conversion kit together, and helped immensely with numerous e-mails and photos which I would never have located. His gentle prods to get things right were always made with his desire to get the best out of the master and resin, and I owe him a great deal. I shall certainly miss his correspondence and comments, as well as his news. A sad day.
Epicuras, a contemporary of Aristotle, once said that - "How you live your life and how you are remembered by those who knew you...is the best reward that you will ever have." - an early Deist
It is apparent from all of your expressions that Mr. Frank Berger lived a fine life amongst his contemporaries and his friends and his family - he has passed on to his ultimate reward.
I wish that I had had the time to have met him......
