Wayne, to be honest, I wouldn't expect much to....

happen before early 2010. It appears, from the advice I received from Rob Erwin and others at Columbus, that the best action for me is to have someone cast my parts for me, which will mate up with the new marketing scheme I am adopting: new kits will be produced in one run. When a run sells out, it's gone. Obviously, if I have a screaming hit on my hands, I'd most likely do a second run to meet the demand. HOWEVER, if sales are slow, and it takes months to move the first set of kits or accessories, that will be it - the molds will be retired. It's sort of what your mother said: you eat when dinner is served - I'm not running an all-night restaurant.....happy.gif Enjoy the SdKfz 251s. I will be doing things for them in the future as well.

Wayne, to set your mind at ease.....

I am planning to add to the Sherman family. I want to do a revised M4A3 hull, and a new M4 Baldwin hull, plus a corrected Tamiya M4 hull representing the mid-production type. Bob mastered two M4s never released, an M4 DV early hull and a late M4 large hatch hull for the 105mmH Sherman. These will be coming out too. A critical need is for large hatch, 47 degree glacis M4A2 hulls for the later USMC Pacific Shermans and the Russian stuff. There will be new T23 turrets, with new details: a cast cupola with interior detail, and a true low-profile gun ring hatch. I have come to feel that the HB T23 turrets may be a bit too high, and I must check out that dimension. The fix, if needed, is easy, and resin replacement turrets will not be expensive.

However, I do not intend to become a 1/48 Formations. Rob Erwin tried that and it failed. There have been calls for me to do lower hulls (I have those already, both riveted and welded M4/M4A1), plus suspension bogie variations, etc. Folks, the market in 1/48 IS NOT THERE. Two people do NOT constitute a "market." I MAY do a basic early bogie set for those who hate the poor simplistic Tamiya bogies, and perhaps a later VVSS bogie for those not using the HB Shermans for parts, but ONLY because I want those parts for myself. Note that the Tamiya bogies are later VVSS bogies - they have the two-bolt suspension arms, as do the HB bogies. Only the ancient Bandai bogies have the correct early four-bolt bogies, but they have other problems.

Yes, it would be nice if Tamiya made a few more.....

kits including a late M4A3, but it's not likely to happen. If anything, they seem to be losing interest, though we can always hope that the fall toy shows may prove our concerns wrong.
