I though there was very little in built-up models compared to two years ago, but then note that I left at 1PM seeing about 200-300 models, and there was supposedly 500 on display at the end!
When I left I could have sworn there was no 1/48th armor, and was corrected here later that there were 7 or 8, now you're saying 3...
I didn't see any Marders or Panthers, so definitely they must have come after 1PM...
You're absolutely right the vending was insane, MUCH better than two years ago. Not only was the amount and variety top notch compared to two years ago, but the prices were MUCH better, often $15 for kits that would have commanded $20-25 two years ago.
To give you an idea, Special Hobby's large and intricate Twin rotor 1/48th scale Luftwaffe helicopter (difficult but incredibly detailed, with an excellent, large multi-sheet photo-etch set and some resin), went for a princely $15. Judging from the parts, one of the best deals I ever made (If I succeed in building it...).
I also got an early D4Y3 Finemolds release, with intricate metal parts, and a very good original-boxing Bandai BMW motorcycle and the Kubelwagen; CAN $15 for BOTH Bandais...
I went way beyond my budget, and I still mourn at least one skip I made: A Condor He-176 first jet prototype. It looked accurate and it was $15...
A year or two of unique, top-quality modeling subjects for very little outlay...
On the display side I remember a nicely done Monogram Kingfisher with Cutting Edge floats, plus a few unusual fighter-sized 1/48 scale aircrafts that were good, but I forget what they were...
At 1PM, it made a lop-sided impression, but as I said, there were many late entries...
