I did the thing with The Box for one's with pictures (Experiments 2.1, 5.1, and 11.1). I didn't really realize in the beginning that I was supposed to write about the experiments, so they are just pictures (my drawings from my notebook) in the first two, but I finally got the idea, hence there is some observational writing in the last two. If you want, I could also send you my more recent ones, or I could write out what I remember of the experiments here. Here is the fourth one:
Experiment 9.1 - Two-point Discrimination
I tested the sensitivity of Meissner's corpuscles in the skin of a partner with toothpicks placed first 0.5 cm apart, and then 1.5 cm apart. The areas I tested were as follows:
Back of Neck
Fingertip (index finger)
Palm
Back of Hand
Top of Forearm
Inside Elbow
Upper Arm
Lower Back
Back of Knee
Front of Knee
Chin
Calf
Top of Foot
Big Toe
The most sensitive places where one or two pricks could be accurately felt were the fingertip, palm, lower back, and big toe. Most places had combination answers from partner, sometimes accurate, sometimes not. The least sensitive spots were the back of the neck, back of knee, front of knee, and chin, where the answers were wrong all of the time. With the toothpicks farther apart, two pricks could almost always be felt. I noticed the pressure determined whether or not one or wo pints were felt - the harder the pressure, the better my partner could feel. Perhaps there is a combination function of Pacinian corpuscles/ Ruffini's organs (pressure receptors) and Meissners corpuscles to translate sensations to the brain.
