A deal has been struck

I am getting as bad as some of you 63 Fairlane,79 Camaro, rail buggy and now.if nothing goes wrong before I take possession Monday morning a 70 Mach1.Along with the Ranger and the Super Duty.I did get rid of the v8 S10 though.
The preliminary plan is a 9 second street/strip beater.BB stroker/C4.All go no show. We will see just how THAT goes. It is pretty rough all over more than anywhere else.I hope it is so bad that I just leave it instead of fixing it up.It has a built 351M/C6 in it now.Says the engine has about 10,000 on it.I am going into it like it is has froze and busted.
small pics for the dial up people.

Have I told you lately you suck? Always wanted a '70 Sportsroof for a race/street car. Looks like a fun project

WOW! Not a bad piece of future there!

I'm currently trying to grab a 1968 Mustang Fastback GT-350, not that they made a '68 gt-350 fastback that I know of, but the painted stripes and the GT-350 are on it... Along with the rear wheel wells all fiberglassed up and flarishly ugly...

Let the spending commence!!!

I second Doug Couch's advice, a Boss 302 clone would be cool!

I recall you mentioned it had a 351M before, and thought it was a typo! Why would someone build a 351M for a race car? Keep me in mind if you stumble across another fastback.

I've heard that the '70 FB is hard to find and, of course, very desirable. Congrats on the find and good luck on the build. Anyway you chose to go will be right.

Got it home, have not had the chance to even look at it though. On another note this guy also has a 68 Charger R/T 440,auto. It is in better shape, has new quarters, floors etc in it, but it is in pieces. He is thinking about a price on it.

Forget the Boss clone idea...

August 1 2007, 12:04 AM

...and build a down and dirty racer/street killer from that '70 as you were thinking, Doug. At any show/cruise that I attend, there are so many cloned,  restored or resto-modded pre '71 Mustangs that  I walk past most without paying much attention. But that one, primered door, tacky body and all would draw me right in. Knowing your perchant for building FAST...your Fairlane is one of the quickest streetable cars that I've ridden in, that 'Stang with a Stroker Big block would be beyond awesome! I say..Go with your original plan..

Love it!  I like the "more Road Warrior and less Barrettt Jackson" idea, but you know the first time you have to order some shiny trim piece or something all bets are off.  "Well damn, I might as well just go ahead and . . ."

Welcome to the 70's

August 1 2007, 12:11 PM

Be ready, guys worship you, women adore you, and you pay 5 times as much for parts as the 65 guys!

However, its 1/5th of what the 71-73 guys pay for resto stuff

That car cries for a 557, go big, go crazy with heads, and think 4 digit HP not three like us lowly FE guys

Looks like a fun project, a lot nicer than what mine started with, looks like it will be a solid base

---------------------------------

- 70 Fastback Mustang, 489 cid FE, TKO-600 5 speed, 3.70 9 inch
- 71 F100 Ranger XLT shortbed 4x4, 397 cid FE, headers, Street Dominator, 280H, 5 lug Dana 60 rear, 4.56's, 4 speed
