I took it apart last week end. I have new pictures to look at. The part the didn't break looks like it could last for years yet. Pisses me off must have been bad from the get go. I will have all my cranks checked form now on.

Looking at #13, looks like it had a sizable crack in it from the get-go. I'd show that to Scat and see if they might not do something for you.

I had heard earlier last year about SCAT cranks going kaboom pretty often. Something about a bad batch of blanks. That sure looks like brittle failure maybe started at the journal where it may have been nicked or had a cut line where it wasn't supposed to be. Usually see the breaks through the crank journal diameter when they go. Sorry to see it, Bill.

My experiences with Scat is a little limited but I have seen several around here have problems. I have a 4340 for my stroker & I had it magnafluxed even though it was new. I have learned there is no such thing as ready to run. Burrs, out of tolerance journals... The Chinese machinists are still horrible. Hope you get it going soon Bill, it was one runnin' mofo

yeah Tom just heard about the bad batch stuff last night my self. There was no reason for it to break. Everything was done right. I will check all cranks from now on.
