Troubling numbers

I got these out of our newspaper today. I know we've talked about this before, and there is no easy answer. As much as I would like to believe it can be reversed, I truly dont think its possible anymore. I will continue not to shop at WalMart and "buy American" , though the lines between domestic and import (specifficly China)is getting harder and harder to define. These numbers are only about the auto industry. But as we all know, the auto industry drives manufacturing to a large degree:

200,000+ active UAW workers at GM alone
180,681: The number of active UAw workers atFord, GM and Chrysler COMBINED TODAY
128,000: The number of UAW jobs to be eliminated from 2005-2009
Thats going to leave:
52,681 Workers

The above numbers alone is a shame.

But how can 52,681 workers support the retirees:
419,621: The number of UAW retirees covered by Ford, GM and Chrysler
Plus
120,723: The number of surviving spouses covered by the UAW

Current number of retirees per active employee:
GM: 4.6
Ford:2.1
Chrysler:1.6
Average:3

This kind of thing just ticks me off so bad. Thanks for letting me vent

Troubling indeed. I saw where the Catholic church says wanting to keep our border strong & stop illegal aliens from crossing is racism! We need to dump the free trade act in favor of the fair trade act!!!
