Well I've always had problems with mice in the garage, particularly when the weather gets cold. They fid their way in because it's easily accesible shelter. Well the other day I walked in and stuff was falling off a shelf when I turned the lights on. A huge rat (I think) jumped down and hid in my pile-o-junk. Couldn't find him. Today I was working on my Kawasaki and one jumped onto the floor over my fireplace and ran across the garage.
Normally I'll sit out here with my buddy with our BB guns and have a few beers BSing and wait for the mice. When I notice them making a push inside we'll do that and kill a couple and no problem for a while. It's actually a fun game, to see who can bag the most mice. haha But I think it's time to bring out the big guns since I'm almost positive this one was a rat. Seen one mouse and almost got him, but didn't see the rat again.
I think I'm gonna set some traps and tacky paper, as it seems pretty bad. My buddy brought a box of mini donuts over alst week and we ate maybe 1/3 of it. We left i on a chair in the garage and when I came out here two days later the box was empty and on the floor. Weird because I rarely have fod out here, but now I'm thinkin' these rodents have a winters worth of food stashed somewhere. I've occasionally seen mice in the house around the start of winter, but the cat always takes care of them so I never have to bother with anything. But as for the garage, they are more than drunken entertainment now, this is war...
I don't know about the rats, but I've found those Bounce sheets [fabric softener] keeps mice out of the garage. I put a sheet about every two feet along the wall, specially near any cracks in the wall. Jes sayin'.
