Well, I've had the F150 for 3yrs and I'm officially tired of it. I put 80k on it in three years with really no issues, zero complaints in that department, 104k on it now and going strong. Just tired of driving a pickup 30mi each way on the highway, and associated 16mpg.
Other big consideration is a GTO, but if I got one I'd want the '05 with 400hp and they're a bit pricey yet. I could swing an '03/04 Mustang, but they just don't do it for me.

I pictured you as more of a treehugger Prius type........
Actualy I keep picturing you in a tiny little shit-box with the windows open so your big ass arms and shoulders would fit. lol
You should have never sold booger. You were "big pimpin" with that car.
Are you keeping the truck?
Hmmm...... What whould I drive If I bought a new car right now? How 'bout a crossover? Decent utilty, decent milage and can be some what sporty if you chose the right one.
I'm with you on being bored with the whole truck thing, not much of a Mustang guy either. I have known a couple of people with GTO's, fast cars but a little smallish for my tastes. I do like the Lincolns though, good room & a proven platform

You don't quit playing because you get old; you get old because you quit playing!
Mark8 was a little too "spaceship" looking for my taste. Plus, trying to find a low miler would be tough.
Looked some more last night, and I believe the LS is the one.
Jim, crossover? Throwing in the towel, eh? Lincoln is bad enough. But, hypothetically, if I were looking at them, I would look at the GMC Acadia.

Why not a late model Cougar? The 3.8 gets decent mialage and there is plunty if potental there being its just a mustang chassi with different skin, no? My 97 Stang W/ 3.8 gets me 550 to 600 km per tankon a damn good highway drive after flashing the computer.
New? We dont have any GTO's in Canada but... The Challanger is coming out this year!... You dont "Need" the Hemi...
It's tough to go from having a truck to driving a car. Half the time you'll think it's the best thing you ever did, the other half you'll wonder what the hell you were thinking!
I know, it's not exactly hardcore car guy stuff, but the crossovers are a great "bread and butter" product that will make or break auto manufacturers. I'm working for a company that handles all of the X plan and supplier discounts for GM right now, so I'm pretty tuned into what GM is doing...actually had a sales meeting this morning. The Enclave is pretty cool looking for a family truckster. That's what's nice, they're making cars with some personality again. I don't know what they run, but an Acadia with leather and all the goodies only goes $31k or so...in today's market that's good value.
Anyway, if all goes well I'll sneak up to see the Lincoln after work Friday, it's 80 miles away so we'll see if I get out a little early. If it's a beater, there's a nice '04 GTO available to be viewed on the ride home.

I ran a CarFax on the Lincoln, turns out it's been hit. It was in the right rear so not necessarily a deal breaker if it's a good repair, but obviously a negotiating point. I drive 30k/yr so my cars are somewhat disposable, so I look for mileage and price first. Definitely knocked down a peg or two on desirability though.
CarFax is pretty awesome as it gives a pretty comprehensive history, as well as letting you know how long the dealer has had it on the lot. Good info come negotiating time.

30K a year - that's a lot of windshield time! In the 90s I was a sales rep for a company called Signode that makes all that steel and plastic strap you see on lumber and steel and stuff, and used to cover Utah, Idaho, Colorado, and Wyoming and logged mileage like that. I developed a horrible habit of chewing Copenhagen on the long stretches that I still fight on and off today. Now my work is exactly one mile from my house and I only log about 5,000 a year, which has been great with fuel costs what they are!
Yeah, sometimes it feels like I never actually leave my truck. I actually did 35k/yr a couple of times. I have a new job that knocked off ~15miles/day so that helps. 65mi/day roundtrip commute plus a lot of running and seems I'm always running on weekends. Only folks I hear racking up miles like this are salesman. Oh well, not much an alternative so it is what it is. I have a small stack of printouts and directions, going shopping today. Drove a very nice '04 GTO last night with only 22k on it. It's hard getting accustomed to a small coupe when I've been driving trucks for 5+ years. Sat in a Lincoln, it's definitely roomier but still low slung. I'll drive a bunch today and see what my impressions tell me to do.

What a day, left the house at noon and returned almost 12hrs later after looking for cars all day. Drove a bunch of stuff, ended up with a black on black '04 Lincoln LS. Decent deal on a clean car, 39k one owner car from a Ford dealer. It does need a good coat of wax.
I drove my old man's '01 quite a bit, so no real surprises. The revisions made in '03 seemed to have helped. Better seats, little stiffer suspension with bigger sway bars, 20hp or so increase but seems like they added a lot more midrange torque. As with many newer cars, it has some goofy torque management BS in first gear that makes it feel a little soft. But, I did click off the traction control and hammer it from a stop, it managed to blow off the tires and whack the rev limiter, so it does have a little poop for a peewee motor. It fully cuts power at shifts when WOT, which sucks...but it feels like a mid 14sec car, plenty for a daily driver. I'm not really looking for a drag racer or I'd have found a GTO, the strong point for this thing is as a highway cruiser. The '01 always amazed me and this car is the same, dead quiet and solid feeling, very crisp gearing/motor combo make it a killer highway ride. Cruise at 75, zing to 90mph to pass the interstate zombies and then hop back in the slow lane and resume the cruise. Reminds me of the old '66 LTD (booger), some cars just shine on the highway.
If they would have made this thing with a 5/6spd it would be just about perfect, but for now it will be a welcome change from the truck. Got 24mpg on the 100mi ride home, obviously running it a bit harder then will be normal.

Well color me green with envy. The LS has been on my want list ever since it was released. I'll bet you are going to really enjoy it, except the B on B part. I've owned 2 of those and they only look clean right after a bath! By the time you get ready to drive, it has attracted a lot of dust. IMHO though, it is the sharpest combo. Add a nice tint to the windows, a nice set of wheels and BAM!
Nice choice. Definitely a "q ship", and all but invisible to the cops. Ditto on the black color comments. Invest in a car duster if you don't already have one. It'll save a wash or two a week. For the life of me, I cannot understand Ford's marketing sometimes. They did the same thing with this one that they did with the Mark VIII. It's like nobody knows how to sell anything at Lincoln if it's not a Towncar or sumthin'. It looks like things are getting better now, but letting two of the best cars Ford ever built wither on the vine like they did is unexcusable. Enjoy!!")
Being as this is a daily ride, it's going to get dirty, no avoiding that. Fortunately they have car wash places in Richmond called "Car Pool" that will do a nice job of washing for $7, well worth it to just let them at it when it starts looking haggard.
Already dark here but I may try to get some pics.
I realized today, it already has tint...
