Has anyone heard anything about Boyd being basiclly at deaths door? On another website there was an artical with a link saying he was hospitalized back in January, then released and doing better. But the new info is he is gravely ill and not expected to make it. No mention was made as to the exact illness, but apparently he has had health problems for some time.

I just did a search and found the same things you did, hospitalized after the holidays, died this morning, but no mention of what was wrong.  I did learn he was from Rupert Idaho, originally, which is sort of cool to an Idaho boy like me.  I'll be interested to learn more.  Probably not entirely appropriate to say after his passing, but everything about his bearing and tone on that show kind of gave me the feeling of someone who'd had a long relationship with cocaine - wouldn't be surprised if he had a stroke and never bounced back.

It is sad for his family and co workers im sure, but im not as struck as when Larry died... was there any indication on his show? I havent seen it for a wile now.

The sad thing was that Boyd was the "HotRod shop", without him the HotRod shop is surely going to have a downward fate. But it puts Foose on top in the industry.

I don't use google nearly as much as you fella's seem to think I do...

Anaheim, CA- February 27, 2008- Boyd Coddington, the creative visionary who took hot rodding to an art form and custom wheels to a new level dies at 63. Coddington who was a long-time diabetic died from complications that were brought on from a recent surgery.

Always too bad when somebody goes "young". Whether or not you liked his cars, you have to admit he had a huge influence with the whole billet rod style.
