Work continues on the pair of Delta Winged B-59s.

The red car has turned out to be another Satanmobile whereas the white car has not been much of a problem......so far......

Snow White is looking incredible as well!

You go thorugh so much chrome, you must have a HUGE note going out to refinish all that nice stuff!

Yeah...Red Cars....

On Saturday I thought I lost the engine on the 60 Edsel. It hadn't run since November, but it started right up. I drove it over to the shop to swap wheels and tires. I'm doing the "whitewall tire thing" this summer just for a change of pace. Probably do a few car shows.

Anyway, I drove it over to the shop, swapped the wheels/tires, then drove it back over by the house to wash the accumulated dirt off the WWWs. On the way back over to the shop to install the wheel covers it dropped a cylinder, then one side of the intake. It sounded like a tractor running on 4 cylinders, then it started to pop up through the carb, then it started to hammer like hell, sounded like a rod came loose! Real nice!

Well, to make the long story short a couple big hunks of carbon had come loose, hung a valve, got on top of two of the pistons, and was just raising holy hell in there! My son kept telling me to shut it off 'cause that rod knock was gonna ruin the crank! I told him it wasn't a rod and he looked at me like I was crazy.

It took a whole can of GM Top Engine Cleaner and TWO GALLONS of water to bring it around but it finally cleared up and we all lived happily ever after. It sounded pretty good but it was still off key so I pulled the plugs. Two of the gaps were all but shut, maybe a .001" or .002" gap. I screwed in two new ones and we're good to go!

I guess the Mighty Edsel just didn't like those sissy boy wide whites! So I went up in the attic and got the fender skirts. I stood directly in front of the old Esled and held up the skirts. I said, "You want some of THIS, wise guy????"

We're good with the wide whites.......

Would you really make the ol edsled wear skirts?

I had an old 71 marquis brougham with the things. I lost one when I did a U turn through a highway median cut-through at about 45 mph. I said screw it and took the other one off too. I took that thing from Va to texas once. It got 19mpg on the highway. It was a 429 2bbl dual exhaust. I was impressed. Then on the way back a truck driver pulled over on me. Luckily, I had a lot of flat land beside me. I slowed down, got clear of traffic and nailed it back onto the road. I thought that my new wife was going to have a heart attack.

I hate fender skirts. You put them on the Edsled, the car is liable just to fall to pieces.

I think I like the color of that paint on a overcast day better than on a sunny day.

Skirts? I think it looks good both ways.

Jerry,

If you warm up your car, and rev your engine to about 2,000 to 2,500 rpm's and pour a bunch of water into the carb throat, it will be sucked into those hot chambers and clean the carbod deposits up in a hurry.

With Greg's being an actual CHUNK of carbon bouncing around, he needed to do a LOT of steam cleaning to break it up and get the engine to spit it out...

That's how I see things...

Still looks good to me. What a difference a set of wheels and tires makes, eh?

Is that the "Chilly" engine still in there?
