Will it go away?

I probably know the answer but.....Im looking for someone to say "sure Chuck, it"ll be just fine"

The trans in the Gal started to leak real bad when I started it up last week. I posted that I couldnt locate the leak at the time, so today I wiped the bottom of the trans off and started the car. I waited, and waited, finally after 4 minutes there was a slight amount of seepage at the bottom of the bellhousing. Crap
I let it idle for about another 5 minutes and nothing futher leaked out, nothing even hit the garage floor. Now this is puzzling since I had a good size puddle under the car after only a few minutes when I started it up last week.

I took it for about a 5 mile ride, parked it , nothing, dry as a bone. Went for a 1/2 hour walk, came back, still dry.

Now here is where you guys are supposed to tell me "it'll be just fine"
What do you guys think.

With the motor swap, taking the trans out isnt going to be any fun. The headers have to come out, I dont have a torch, so I may very well have to cut them off and spend about 4 bills for new ones, and who knows when the guy will get around to building them, it could be months.

Is it possible (probable) that the front seal dried up over the winter and now swelled up and seald again? Or is it wishfull thinking on my part.

Actually Chuck,

That is exactly what it sounds like!!! You don't need me to tell you what to keep an eye on.

It's gonna be okay Chick, maybe some K&W trans sealer will make it better

If you didn't build it, it will always be someone else's

Ya know, Chick, once I had a 390 water pump that would not leak a drop all summer. I'd park it for the winter and about a month later it would start to drip. Just a little. By the end of the winter it would have leaked about two quarts. In the spring I'd top it off and drive all summer without dripping a drop. Next winter, same same.....

Don't worry about it. Drive it, keep a watch on it, if it blows up don't call me. Or post here. We don't care about your petty little problems. Unless something really cool happens like a major body part falls off. No I don't mean like a fender or a bumper. I mean like an arm or a leg or your butt....

So what's the topic? Do you have a leak or do you NOT have a leak?

I don't think you have a leak... I think it's like my old 64 T-bird... I'd leave drops in the driveway all winter but not in the summer....

If Chick loses a leg or an arm and doesn't leak...something is definately not right.

I say drive it. Leaky seals are well known to function in the warmer months. In the winter months they just bark at the birds alot.

I don't know if it will stop or not. Just take some penicillin and wait, if it stops great, if not, go back to the Dr.
