Bought a truck today!

Well, a few weeks back the nebours brother from across the road offered me the opperunety to buy his old 76 d100. He said its the exact same as mine, opposate paint and had a transmission leak. Well I looked at it and he said $300. Not a bad deal, but do I need another truck? Its a good idea as seeing how my insurance company wont give a damn about a 32 year old pick up so a spare "incase" or parts is VERY handy. Today I was just driving by to take a pic or two when I saw his wife outside and asked if Rob was around, she told me that he was getting a can of gas for the truck. Cool, so I hung around (the last time I was there there the truck was empty for fuel but turned over) so finally Rob shows up with about 10L of gas and pours it in the tank. The battery was toast so we jumped it to his jeep and gave it a shot. As we were doing this another guy in a van pulls up who was apparently looking in to the truck for just the engine alone... after he fiddled around for a few min with us trying to start it (the truck ran off the prime we gave it but didn't get fuel from the tank yet...) he left. Back to Rob and I, Rob told me if I gave him $100 it would be mine! Cool! so we made the deal, shook hands and heres what I ended up with. Its got cruise and AC however the ac has been removed, new exhaust and yet to see what else...:

The new one:

My current truck (getting the step side on hopefully by end of the month):

more of the new one:

(Robs kid)

Now Im thinking if I fix it the GF seems to want to drive a truck like mine for work... how cool would it be for her to have the same old truck as me? but there goes my insurance... we will need to see.

$100? And no extra charge for the battery terminal corrosion and the bird crap on the windshield? What a deal! Don't see how you can lose...

Those old Dodges like that are indestructable and highly frustrating.

If you need them to run - they won't

If you try to kill them - They won't die.

This is what I have fount to be law when buying any old (60's/70s) chrysler rwd product. Within a month of purchase you will replace or repair the following

1 - Alternator
2 - Complete Tune Up
3 - Carb
4 - Starter
5 - Exhaust.

If you do these things - the car will run forever - or until you sell it, then it will require these things from the new owner.

Stephen King knew what he was doing when he made Christine a Plymouth.

You speak the truth David!
But theres one thing you forgot to mention that most of the guys that I knew, encluding myself, carried when they owned a Mmopar:
A spare balast resistor.

Kinda like an American Express card for Mopars. Dont leave home without it

I had a 75 Dodge long bed, baby blue, 225, auto, I carried three ballast resistors in the glove box, an actually had to use two in the same day because the alternator went on the fritz... That was back in 1985
