Well i finely got her back on the road today. After dealing with the water pump issue for three weeks. So i'm cruising down Michigan ave and she running fine i can't believe its running again when all of a sudden the motor revs a little hmmm whats going on and it does it again. Damn then nothing rev it but no forward motion. Shit now the trans is gone so i coat into the 7/11 gas station and turn it off. Pop the hood look around then look under the car. One of the trans lines is hanging down peewwww it wont go if theirs no fluid.
Car set so low all i can do is slip the hose back on but have no screwdriver to tighten it up with. Walk inside 7/11 and they don't have any kind of tools there. (this parts for you Tom aka Phat falcon) A guy pulls say say did you buy that off of Rick bla bla i don't remember his last name. I said no but i know the one your talking about. We have been a same cruise ins together. Nice guy so i get him to drive just down the street to auto parts store and buy me a stubby screwdriver. Now im thinking i give 5 bucks to a stranger he aint coming back but he does and i thank him and he leaves. ( told me rick moved out to Howel a couple of years ago so that why i don't see your old car any more Tom) I'm able to slide hose back on but cars too low to work screwdriver and see what im doing its kinda tight where the hose clamp is. I keep trying to no avail.
I make a couple of phone calls and can't get any answers so I'm stuck for now. By chance one of my coworkers comes in to get gas and sees its me hay Bill what wrong i told him. He has a jeep i told him i need a floor jack to raise the car so i can tighten clamp well he has one of them small ones. I say great. It was almost too tall to work my cross member sits so low. I make it work on the outer edge. He also has one of them screw type jacks that i use for a jack stand. So now i am able to see what the hell i am doing and get it tight. Now i have to buy another funnel and 4 quarts of dex and i am good to go.
That took an hour and a half. But it feels good to drive it again.
Thats a bit better then my last brake down. It beats having a mech fuel pump crap out half way home on a 600 mile trip, late on a saturday, hours before everything closes, in the last city with anything for the next 200 miles or so (which doesent help because there are no mech pumps around) untill you realise a electric will get you home just fine and the parts store has one.
Good to hear you're running again, Bill. I know about the too low stuff. Gots to hook everything up before you go, man! I used to do that a lot. I'd get so excited about running again and forget the details.
Thanks for the info on Rick Burd. How far away is Howel from you?
Tom Howell is about an hour and ten minutes away. That's just it on the hose I haven't touched it in a couple of years. So i guess it just worked it's self loose.
Ya Rick i was Jones in pretty bad. Bright spot thought car now only has 11.3 compression so pump gas it is. Also that cam i got off of Steveo a couple of years ag is in it but it still almost sounds like it did with the last cam. Just don't quite have the pop it use to. But still sound badddd. Ruppp
Glad to hear it Bill.
As far as Howell goes, Iknow they have a big cruise in Pinkney every year (close to Howell). Might have one in Hell too, but I've only heard of motorcycle runs in Hell. Could possibly run across Toms old Falcon at one of those 2 places.
