"He was smiling... That's right. You know, that, that Luke smile of his. He had it on his face right to the very end. Hell, if they didn't know it 'fore, they could tell right then that they weren't a-gonna beat him. That old Luke smile. Oh, Luke. He was some boy. Cool Hand Luke. Hell, he's a natural-born world-shaker. "
Paul N. crammed more living into his single life than most could cram into three or four: A sucessful acting career, a sucessful marriage, won Lemans in his 60's, ran a sucessful racing operation, found multiple sucessful business' including salad dressings, popcorn, and who knows what else. To top it all off, he began giving it all away to charity in big chunks because he had the luxury of knowing he was going to die about a year ago. "Cool Hand" indeed. Would that we all were 1/10th as cool. There aren't many left like him and instead we're left with the likes of Adam Sandler, Jim Carey, and I can't go on because the thought makes me sick at my stomach.
Another one of "my guys" is James Garner. You never know with actors but it just seems to me that his "style" is his real personality. Definitely not a hick, especially in the Rockford Files, but just a laid back good old country boy.
That will be a sad day in my life when he heads down the trail............
