I saw a Viper do about the same thing a few years ago except he hit the left guard rail. Same stupid thing, just spinning the tires, too damn dumb to let off and let it catch up. There's a little wave in that lane, you can feel it a little on slicks but no biggie. However, if you're still spinning your tires that far out you're gonna find some trouble!
Last weekend there was a 911 at the track with a plate reading 1050 bhp. Ran a 12.1 @ 148 (zero traction) and kept right on going through the sand trap. Ripped the whole front end off.
Waste of a nice car. I imagine he should have gotten some injuries since those barriers are not light and he moved it real good. Corvettes aren't my pick for ramming concrete at speed. The real loss is that now the motor can't be salvaged either!
What do you mean the motor can't be salvaged? Ever since the mid-1950's small block Chevy's have been used for boat anchors on both coasts. I don't see why this one can't be used for the same.
