Awesome gets overused, but the size of the place and the job is just overwhelming.

Somebody send that to Congress - Remind them that Detroit was there when the country needed the manufacturing might. Now they need a little of the country's financial might, and they catch hell.

I've been checking out some of those pics and trying to see if I recognize any of the locations. I've been living within 5 miles of Willow Run since 1985. I'll have to ask some oldtimers that I know who grew up in the gov. provided housing during that time. Its been a doz. years since I worked on any of the old buildings at Willow Run Airport.
I remember that in the Chrysler Pentastar Aviation hangars the old fire alarm cabinets (which we used for terminal cabinets and wiring junction boxes) were cast aluminum with Ford Motor Company script cast into the covers.

Also, my mom worked at Willow Run while on sumer break from college in 1943 at the pilot training school, and in 1944 in the main offices for the bomber plant.
