Bull F'in Shit!

There was no 3x2 for FE engine until 1961 model year. Dealer install at best.

And anybody that's knows anything can look at that thing and tell it's a Galaxie intake in two seconds! Note the air cleaner angle. The T-bird intakes were designed to be "flat" because the T-bird engines were mounted "flat" as opposed to other Fords that were angled up in front.

Factory stick is cool, though. Rare indeed. There was a 60 T-bird at Hershey several years ago that was a stick/overdrive with the sun roof! Not TOO Rare.....

Rare indeed!

The last Solid lifter 352 Tri-power I saw looked nothing like a Dual Quad 427 Cammer... happy.gif happy.gif happy.gif

The ad states that they are considering taking the Cammer out of Car A and installing it in the 60 T-bird.

What the ???

Very odd ad. What is the stray Cammer info in there for? We're cool, we have a cammer, we're not really gonna drop it in this T-bird...???
Odd.
Why is the FE so far forward in the engine bay? I don't recall the Y-blocks sitting a foot forward of the firewall.

There were no Y-Blocks available in 58/60 T-bird. 352 was standard, 430 MEL optional.

The 55/57 T-birds had a Y-block but they were built on a modified passenger car frame so the engine was in a convetional location.

The 58/60 was built on an all new unibody. To keep the front of the hood low the engine was mounted in a "flat" location rather than angled upward at the front like most cars. Then the whole powertrain was moved forward (or the firewall was moved back, whichever way you want to look at it) so there wouldn't be a huge trans hump inside the car.

The intake was pretty obviously not stock. Makes me wonder what the car was actually built like. There is a "NASCAR" Bird here in Cincinnati with the 430 that has the same vibe, but is more "real".

I think the car is legit except for the 3x2 intake. The early 332/352 FEs were solid lifter engines. The flatheads were solid lifters, the Y-blocks were solid lifters, so it's just a continuation. So it's no biggie to have a solid lifter 352/300 in that Bird. The stick shift is cool and rare and legit. The 7" wide wheels are an add on, not factory. Somewhere along the line somebody swapped on a hi-po 390/406 6V intake. No problem with that, just don't say original......
