1929 Ford

What might this be worth if one was to buy it?

It's powered by a 2.3 L Ford with 4 speed... Paint is a little worse for wear, he said it was about a 5 PAINT WISE.....! just came back off a 6,000 mile ROAD trip and got an average of 20 MPG at 75mph... NO issues with anything mechanical.

What do y'all think?

Nifty!

I always wanted to build an old Model T or A and put a SVO drivetrain in it.

Is that a chopped top glass body? I remember there being a repro built in the '70's that used a Pinto 4 cylinder as a power plant. Could that be one? Go for it if you like it. I think $6k is pricey for that, but whatever turns you on!

Terrible stance.

I don't recall A coupes having a slanted cowl/windshield.

Well okay there Proofreaders,

The price is 5 as in FIVE as in I assume $5000.00. That's 5000 dollars NOT 6000 dollars.

The statement is that it just came off a 6000 mile road trip. That's 6000 miles NOT 6000 dollars.

I'd give $5K for it

Its running, is (apparently) reliable and it don't look like crap?

April 10 2009, 12:59 PM

For $5K, I don't see how you are looking at a bad deal. OK, it might be better with a Honking 600 cubic inch V-8, but then it would surely cost a heck of lot more than 5K.

Its reliable, it don't look too bad and it runs - can you build it for that much? Twice that much?

I don't think so. Your money - your choice, but if you are in the market for a Rod - at the price quoted would not be a big stop sign.

Its worth a trip to check it out ... if you find something wrong after a visual, then you can either negotiate or back away, its still worth a look - see.

I'm actually wondering why its so cheap? The worse thing I can see, is the interior (the doors) and swapped in factory seats are the only 'ding' I would put on the deal.

Try again guy's happy.gif, He wants to trade this for my 1999 Mercedes SL500

I was in a super hurry when I typed that message.... SOrry.

He want's to straight trade... What can I get more money for an SL500 or a 29 Fiberglass with a steel hood on a Mustang II Chassis engine and running gear?

Fair, not fair? Because of this Mercedes, I'm out of pocket and in the hole $15,000....

These SL,s only sell for about $7K, and they book at $14.5

If I pop a 5.0 in the 29 wouldn't it then be equivalent? I've been trying to sell this SL for months and have had one damn phone call on it the entire time... sad.gif

Easier to sell an A than an SL I think....

I'll make you the same deal. A 61 Falcon bumper, even up for the 500SL. You pay the shipping on both items.

So you guy's are of the consensus that the SL is worth more? I guess I'll stick with the SL... And try to sell the bastard and get the $ in the bank before the Interest rates skyrocket...

And Chuck, you know I can't just trade you the SL for the bumper, I only have ONE SL to give you and that bumper has got to be worth at least TWO of these things happy.gif

The SL is a nice driver with good AC, heat, & sound & the A is most likely not as comfortable. Why pay so much for a car to swap out the engine & trans? I would think with the odd engine/trans combo the car is worth $5K tops. There's one of those mid '70's Model A's that comes up for sale here from time to time. He want's $10K for it but has been told time & time again it might be worth $6K... but it's a bit nicer than the one you're looking at

Cool, I can feel that.

The SL needs to go... I put it on E-bay last month, and the bids, all 4 of them sad.gif, only got to $3K and some fuctard keept e-mailing and offering $3,500 for it...

Damn car books 15K to 18K through KBB, and Auto Trader has them listed from $10K to $24K mostly above the $20K mark, and NADA suggests $7K to $14K....

My pop's gave my aunt $15K in a cash advance, then she buggered out on him....

Gotta get some $ to take the huge edge off this cash advance before September when the 0% goes away...

Crap you do for relatives huh?.... sad.gif

One to poop on and the other one to cover it up.

Cool Beans. I can take good advice happy.gif happy.gif

Sell the Cedes, and make a small dent on the debit, or trade for the A coupe Mod Mustang II chassis, and likely only be able to get $6K max out of it.......................

I'll pass on the A. Keep the Mercedes up for sale...

It couldn't be one of the Shay replicas from the 70s and 80s because Shay didn't build any coupes.

There's just something not right with that body. It has the windshield rake of a 32 and the rear windows are smaller than a 5 window. Is it really a Ford body?

Not really. The hood is steel the rest is glass over channeled steel on a 70's Mustang II chassis...

Still getting ZERO interest in my damnable SL500...
