sheeeeeit, I HOPE I can pull it off! I got 10 day's left... Exhausted now from three 18 hour day's in a row... Hand sanding and blocking my fingers are smooth and my shoulders are aching...
I paint the body and hood and deck lid tomorrow, then roll her outside then start on teh 4 doors adn 2 fenders....
I don't think I can do it in 9.2 day's, but I'm gonna give it a hell of a shot!
Hey, back in the early 60s the neighbor had a 60 Falcon wagon, 144 1V 2 speed Ford-O. Talk about a screamer! 0-60 by noon.
Just putting around the city it wasn't too bad but one Labor Day I tagged along on a family picnic deal about 40 miles out in the country. We had to take a 70 mph 4 lane divided and everyone was cruising. I don't know what kind of gear was in the Falcon but I know those itty bitty wheels we really turnin'! Good thing we had to go only 40 miles. I don't think that motor would have survived 50 miles!
As a seasoned 1960 Falcon veteran, I drove mine from my brother's house in NJ across PA and Ohio to get home. All at 60MPH as the car would vibrate horribly above that. The motor was so hot you couldn't pop the hood and stand over it. When I was pulling it apart the front bearings were loose and no rubber left in the suspension except pieces. I suspect the little 13x4 wheels were out of whack too. Once all new parts and a 4 link rear and 9 inch versus a 7 inch was in place with the 302 it went over 120 pretty easily.
Got color on it! But first I hollered at thh Shotrod to show up and I taught her the delicate nature of green ultra fine scotch brite vs red ordinary fine scotch brite
She did good then I laid the color and clear on...
I dunno... 7 days as of tomorrow morning and still two fenders to do, 4 doors to do and 4 trim parts to do....
I DID FINALLY get my trim out of some city in MOZURRAH in the mail today!
Well, you are ALL partially correct... You see, I was contemplating a LOT of beer drinking after the "shoot" so I had to double tripple fourple fipple check my spray pattern so I could rest assured it was optimal VS my air pressure.
Not one run in the entire job.... unless you count that one 3 foot long curtain I got on the dark side of the car.... More lights are forthcoming
A little update... Going to be VERY VERY close.. Completion day is Friday before ship anchors up...
I've done a little trim adding, and a little HARD AS JESUS HEADLINER installation, and a little carpet installation... Bought me a windshield seal all new but cannot find it ANYWHERE, so I'm out ANOTHER $100 bucks to get it here by Wednesday...
Oh schitt... I just finished the headliner... it's NOT the front and rear that's the challenge.. It's the SIDES :o :o
You gotta stuff the edges up UNDER this strip with gator teeth on it while stretching it out and backwards... This headliner was sewn poorly and I have a couple places that look Maaco like, so I'm outsourcing all my pre 66 headliners from now on
The rear pillar transition was nearly the end of me...
Well, don't worry about the windshield seal arriving. Now that you've bought another one, you'll find the old one for sure. However, Murphy's law does have a clause in it that you have to actually install the newly purchased one before the old one shows back up so you may be screwed anyhow...
Im guessing that the gator clips are the same thing thats used to hold the windlace in place. Im sure theres a tool to do it, but I didnt have it when installing it on my 61. A real PITA
I just used a putty knife to shove it in there. Just have to make sure the gator teeth are sticking out far enough to catch the material. I don't know what material you have, but cloth can be steamed and the the smaller wrinkles will come out when it shrinks.
Hell Gary, if you were closer I would have you take a stab at putting quarters on my '71, I don't have the hands for it anymore. Falcon is looking good
--------------------------------------------
You can't condemn the bad if you don't commend the good
I used 3 different plastic puddy knives adn it was still a bitch... The windlace clips kept gettin in the way of all the damnable seams then didn't want to go... That's cool though, the wife will never even know I replaced the headliner
Two letters passed in the mail, this is what they said...
Twas it you who done the pushin' left the stains upon the cushion footprints on the dashboard upside down? Twas it you you sly Houdini who got into my daughter Jeanie, if it was you better leave this town....
RE:
Yes it twas I that done the pushin', left the stains upon the cushion footprints on the dash board upside down.... But since I got into your Daughter, I've had trouble passing water... So I guess that makes us even all around
I got TOMORROW ONLY to reassemble 4 doors, mount 2 fenders and install the glass and new weatherstripping inside and outside the doors... Then put in the grill and headlight buckets and bumpers...
DAMN! I'm going to be late for the 6:30 AM Friday Pickup at the Port time....
Doors painted, doors on , Gut's in , Felts in, Stainless in, fenders on, hood on, front bumper hanging by two bolts.... Grill next to back door... Interior fully finished..... Been working it since 6:30 am today and not it's 2:49 and I am funkin DONE workin.
Not done with the car, but done enough that I get a couple day's off to Poke Fun at my seafaring wife, it's only been 6 onths since I've seen her...

I got back from picking her up and showed her the near finished car and she's happy as a Bee in a Flower!
I'll finish it later, but today we're taking it to the drive in after I secure the front bumper and grill and headlights...
I'm only a little disappointed that it's not fully finished. She loves the color and the new everything about it.
I'm off for a couple day's, y'all have a nice one and I'll put up pics later.
