Oh that? Well, that's the special double the air speed by crushing the filter while shutting the hood routine, only available when you forgot to take something off the air cleaner when you shut the hood wink.gif

Not a bad looking car for sure!

Interesting that it's represented as a "Fairlane Mainline" when it's neither......happy.gif

Gary, somehow I knew you'd know the answer to that one. Voice of experience, perhaps?happy.gif

Anybody besides me notice the genuine sparkomatic stereo cassette with graphic equalizer?! Whoo-eee, that's some hi-end sound there, boy.

I watched the video and the guy ran it up to 85 mph (yikes!). W/S needs replacing, too.sad.gif

Y-blocks got a bad reputation almost from the beginning. Flatheads fans didn't like the change. A 55 Chevy would blow the doors off a 55 Ford. Due to the crummy oil at the time the oil passages to the rocker shafts would clog and ruin the rocker arm assy. So you would run an external overhead oiler to the rockers which would take oil pressure of the mains. I had a 59 Ford that would idle at 2psi. The solid lifters were noisy, but not in a cool "race" manner. Compared to a 289 the 292 is an outright slug.

But other than that........

However, if you built a fresh Y-block and ran it on modern oil it would run forever.

But then again a 390 doesn't weigh much more than a Y-block and it's a bolt in so why not? Instead of struggling for 300 hp why not make an easy 400 for about the same money?

He says its a Customline.

Quote from the ad:

"Please Note, Listed As Fairlane Due To eBay Not Having A Customline Category."

Gary, it's a Customline.

Ed, that's interesting since they made WAY more Custom/Customline cars than Mainline. Mainline was the bare bones stripper and you rarely saw one even in the "low rent" neighborhoods.

Thanks Greg, I thought the outsides were pretty much the same. But I rarely pay attention unless someone brings me one...
