The Snow White 59 Buick Electra 225 Convertible will be displayed at the Meadow Brook Concours this weekend.

Here's a list of the other cars in the category.

Fins and Chrome: The Convertibles of 1959 A significant year in auto design, we'll have 14 models all from 1959 and all convertibles.

The 2009 Meadow Brook Concours dElegance celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. One of the countrys premier car events, the Meadow Brook Concours will be held on Sunday, August 2, and features more than 200 historic and rare automobiles including an exemplary display of 1959 "fin" cars, among many other interesting groupings. There are many special events planned for the entire weekend, including RM Auctions 15th Annual Vintage Cars of Meadow Brook, an automotive design forum and a gala strolling dinner on Saturday night. For more info, visit the Meadow Brook Concours website athttp://www.mbhconcours.org/.

Here's a current listing of all the cars that will be in Tom's class. What a blast! Every one of these is a "softtop" convertible (except for the Ford retractable):

1959 Buick Electra 225
1959 Dodge Royal Lancer
1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz
1959 Ford Skyliner Retractable
1959 Chrysler 300E
1959 Mercury Monterey
1959 Plymouth Sport Fury
1959 Desoto Adventurer
1959 Pontiac Bonneville
1959 Chevy Impala
1959 Lincoln Continental Mark IV
1959 Edsel Corsair
1959 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight
1959 Ford Thunderbird

Greg Cockerill is still chasing an elusive, original 1959 Imperial convertible from Illinois. The car is slated to be offered at the Mecum Auction in Monterey, and Greg was trying to contact the owner via the auction company. If the Imperial is available, Meadowbrook will have a complete set of the '59 convertibles.

Greg has reported that finding an exceptional '59 Olds convertible was quite challenging, and the committee ultimately took a second look at a nice, largely original local car.

The '59 Continental convertible was also more difficult to locate than might have been expected.
