Pilot bearing Question

You guys who've installed more than a clutch or two like myself: When installing the pilot bearing, does it have to be driven in via a socket or does it usually slide into place with minimal effot? The one that came with my clutch kit is gonna have to have some muscle to fit in the slot and I want to make sure that it's the correct one rather than loaf it up with the wrong one going in. I may try freezing it overnight and see how that works as well...

First, I use pilot bearings now, can't remember who makes them. I always had to tap them in with a socket & hammer

Sand the outside of the bushing and the inside of the crank. Double check for burrs. It should tap in gently, no muscle.

Thanks folks. This one is a bearing, not a bushing. That's why I wanted to make sure. Don't wanna go beatin' up a bearing if I'm not s'posed to.

I too hit them with a little paper as they go in snug but not tight like a bronze bushing can sometimes be.
