The Fairlane is a relatively rare car. Lots of Fairlane 500s were built and lots of Custom 300s. Not too many Fairlanes. I think there is some side trim missing on the Fairlane. Seems to me there should be three hash marks of some sort somewhere. Maybe in the cove area.

You mean like these? This was titled a 58 Ford Fairlane Town Sedan.

Three hash marks (or whatever) on the quarters but I don't remember that big ornate dealy in the cove area. Possibly an early/late deal but maybe a hardtop/sedan difference. Gotta check this one out.

OK, so here's another, but called a Fairlane 500. Script on top front fender and hashes. Fairlane trim.





They can be on hardtop or sedan. Maybe an early/late thing or also maybe just trim option? Engine related?

Also showed up on the 61 Falcon Futura model.
