What is the story behind these 2 Cadillac "woodie" station wagons on the Annapolis Classic Cars website?

Hess and Eisenhart did the "factory" conversion of Cadillacs for several years. Expensive limited production.

it looks like that buick you did is on there too (the red rag top with white inner fenders)..
What was the deal with that big snokel on the air cleaner on that car?

Isn't that the "heavy duty" air cleaner with paper and oil filtration?

That is an oil bath air cleaner. The big goofy can on the front is a silencer. Several GM cars of that era used that style.
