Every church I have gone to has had some type of music. The only church I know of that does not have music is church of christ and I will not goto a church of christ because of that.

Church of Christ has Music!
It is all vocals but it is music!
It is scriptural...
Everyone is invited to join in instead of just listening...
I find it quite beautiful!
You really should try it

Singing

I'm not a member of the Church of Christ but I have attended many times in the past and must confess that those worshippers sing beautifully! I've often wondered why some of us can't sing that well with music.

Unless you can play an instrument and be "the show" you aren't interested?

Sounds like you should be looking for a band in a bar not a Church!

18For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

20He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

21The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

music in any other setting other than for praise or worship? I know you guys are a new testament church, but what about the old testament referring to the use of harps, tamborines, etc. for praise and worship? When did this become wrong and why?

Brought the New Law.

If you want to practice under the Old Law you need to find a Tabernacle.

We are warned against "taking away" or "adding to" the New Law in Revelations.

It doesn't say separate but equal but whites are in one church and blacks in another. It doesn't say to drive a care or use hymnals either. It doesn't even say to conduct the service in English. See, it hadn't been invented yet. See ya in heaven.

Don't say it's Biblical when it is merely our preference!

And yes Blacks and whites and yellows and reds all go to the church they want to! There are a number of mixed race churches in Decatur.

maybe you need to check out some different churches if you think "seperate but equal" is really the norm. You do, of course have to consider the demographics of the city.

no one makes goat sacrifices any more because the new law (Jesus) made such sacrifices unnessesary but nowhere in the new testament does God say "you know what? I don't want to be worshipped in that way anymore the only reason that the church of christ doesn't have music in their service is because Christ and Peter and Paul didn't see the need in mentioning one of the few things that the Jews were doing right when there was so much to correct them on therefore the last time that musical instruments are mentioned as far as using them to worship God is in the old testament which is completely ignored by this denomination if you use this logic it is ok to kill because thou shall not kill is in the old testament.

Perhaps you should attend a Church of Christ before you start Bashing them and Lying about what they preach!

The Old Testament is studied, as is the New Testament.

But the Old Law is gone!

Christ replaced "an eye for an eye" with "turn the other cheek" If you don't know this, or don't understand the differences in the Law of the Old Testament (Patriarichal Law) and the Law of the New Testament (Christian Law) you need to buy a bible and read it through. take time to ask questions and learn.

Then you will see.

Until then Do Not bash a Church you obviously know nothing about!

Hey, worship the Lord Jesus Christ with all that you are. As long as your worship to HIM is coming from your heart I don't think HE is going to give a rip, He loves us; worship with a garbage can lid and a stick. Worship with a raspy non-singing voice. Worship with a no rhythm dance. It won't matter as long as what you are doing is to glorify GOD. If you are doing it - anything - to etify yourself - it's not about God. I bet that was confusing, I hope not. It's not so much about HOW we worship, just that we do, and do it from our hearts. Don't get stuck on the HOW (see the sadducess and pharisees) - get stuck on the WHY. Worship HIM because HE made an ultimate sacrafice for our sins. Hey, thanks for wondering what it's really about, and being bold enough to ask questions and make statements. I hope my "blog" has helped. All praise, honor, and glory be to my Lord and Savior, JESUS CHRIST.

CHC

If the C of C will not use a musical instrument because the Bible does not mention an instrument. namely the piano, why do they continue to use pews, ac, central heat, hymnals, etc.? They have picked out one thing as their test of faith and will not be budged. It seems hypocritical to not eliminate everything from life if it is not mentioned in the Bible.

I think the argument that started here just because a guy asked if any church needed a musician is crazy! God has blessed people with many gifts and talents - a lot of which are musical. I think that God wants you to use those gifts to praise him.
