Disability Rights

I have been an avocate for individuals wiht disabilites for many years. I woudl be willing to provider my services whereever they are needed. Assting people through the maze that they will need to negotiate is something I do well. p

I am an experinced interpreter for people with deaf/blindness and who are deaf and am a special education advocate for families who have children with disabilties. I could volenteer some time as a SSP for a person with deaf/blindness and help families negotiate school systems to ensure specialized services are obtained for thier children.

I have been a paraplegic and disability rights advocate for 14 years, & would like to help how ever I can. I was also a special education teacher and now I work as an advocate for the Missouri Protection & advocacy. I'd be willing to travel if needed.

I am blind and have expertise in the field of visual impairment, autism, disability rights, and disability resources. I am director of an agency, and provide technical assistance for the Southest Regional DBTAC. I also have training pastoral counseling.

I have many years of experience working with children and adults with developmental disabilities in the areas of residential habilitation and advocacy. I've received training in first aid, cpr, ABA, abuse, etc. from the state of NY. I am currently located in the state of Florida. I also have some experience working with the elderly and people with alzeihmer's disease, in the areas of self care and independent living. We are a Center for Independent Living located in Lake County, Illinois. We wish to offer assistance to persons with disabilities that have been evacuated and come to Lake County.

Several of our staff are willing to volunteer assistance.

We offer Information & Referral, Independent Living Skills, Personal Assistant Services, Advocacy, Youth Advocacy, Deaf Services, Senior Blind Services, and Peer Mentoring.

We also can offer the use of our computers to PWD's who are seeking employment and wishe to do job searches, resume preperations, etc.

Volar Center for Independent Living (Volar CIL) in El Paso, Texas, has been working with Federal, State, and Local officials by providing evaluations, assistance and services to individuals that have been displaced because of either Hurricane Rita and Karina. We have a number of individuals with special needs that are living in El Paso. Nevertheless, despite our best efforts there are still individuals that need our services that we haven't been able to reach. I would appreciate if you posted our information on your web site.

Some of the services that Volar CIL had to offer are:

Housing - offer and assistance
ILS Specialist
Disability Rights Advocate
Information and Referral specialist
Disability Access Expert
Personal Assistant Services
Benefit Assistance Counseling

Volar CIL has also been able to secure funding for individuals with special needs that have lost critical DME items or supplies. These funds are be utilized for individuals that have been relocated into the El Paso area.
