It never amazes me what people will take if it's free.
The other day I was cleaning out my pantry and decided to take the box of stuff to work. Many of those things were quite old, and so I figured whatever is left over at the end of the day can be tossed or I can figure out somewhere else to donate the leftovers.
What was I thinking? Within a couple of hours there were no leftovers! I even left a note on the box stating I didn't know how old the items were. I had half eaten boxes of cereal, stale bags of potatoe chips, etc., among the items. That's pretty gross when I think about it. Oh, well...at least the food didn't go to waste.
We occasionally have parties here at work for specific people. People who actually know the person on some level are the ones invited. But you almost without fail see others trickle in slowly.
They sneak in and get some food and sneak out. The person being celebrated asks who that was and people just shrug. The sneaky ones just slipped in for "free" food.
Another case has been when our area head orders food for us. The problem is that we are housed with other departments and they see the food and think Oh, cool. They feel they are entitled to the food if by nothing else location.
It just boggles the mind what people will feel "entitled" to.
