Well, I've started a hair journal. Since I know next to nothing of HTML and what I should add, I'd appreciate any advice. I've surmised so far that people just don't post on each others' hair journals, so this will be as much as testament of my efforts to myself as it is to anyone who happens to come by.
For anyone that DOES come by, here's a little bit about myself.
I'm Nienor, or Hannah, as much one as the other. Either name is okay with me. I've got 36.5 inch hair, and I've been growing it six years. So far, I've managed to do very little with it, I'm imcompetent when it comes to styles and have no money for treatments. But I'm doing what I can out of ingredients in my own home, and thanks to the wonderful Carlynn, I have a small supply of oils, and a stunning pair of hairsticks. I can't thank her enough. :)
Right now my routine is:
Wash every other night. If I don't, my scalp gets uncomfortably greasy. I know it might be possible to change this, but I'm not sure how.
I use Suave Naturals shampoo, then Suave Naturals conditioner. Because my hair tangles fairly easily, I leave a very small amount of conditioner on. Just enough so that when I braid it, it doesn't rip when I part. (I sleep in two braids, especially when I want a little more body...but lately, I've been using Robert's sleep tail almost as much)
When I remember, I put either olive oil with a little almond EO, jojoba, or virgin creme de cocothingy, something or other (I'm tired, the name has escaped me)on my ends. I try to do that every morning as well, though so far it hasn't produced any visible result.
I really love the brown sugar scrub, probably because it actually feels like it's affecting my scalp as I do it. About once every two weeks (or more often, depending on my stress level *rolls eyes*) I do a brown sugar scrub, with a few pieces of rice added for more substance. I use baking soda to clarify now and then, and I've used a honey rinse twice.
The only real treatment I've ever done was Tanja's Hair Miracle...I let it sit for an hour on my hair, then washed it out with as little shampoo as possible. I added a miniscule amount of conditioner afterwards, because this was an experiment and I wanted unadulterated results. The next morning, my hair was dull, stringy, and slightly sticky. I guessed I hadn't washed it out well enough and resolved to use shampoo next time. That night, I shampood it all out, assuming the treatment hadn't worked...well, the next morning, my ends felt great, but it only lasted one day. I could see doing this again, but I'd only apply it to my lower length, just my ends and maybe half a foot above.
Well, there's my first post. My hair has felt terrible lately- my ends have been very crispy, all my broken bits from the brush I still have to use until I get a comb are sticking out, but I suspect that won't last. Edit, I hope that won't last.
Thanks for dropping by. |
