I'm not sure how to deal with this. I tend to think I don't have this Seborrhea (excuse the incorrect spelling) that everyone is talking about, because the itchiness comes in cycles. If I have it, it's a mild case. But it's bad enough to bother me. :(
Actually, I've completely dropped doing anything with my hair. I'm not oiling, I'm not using Shea, and I'm washing every other day. I just can't do only scalp washes, it's not something I'm managing at this point. My hair feels much better (and looks much better) when I wash it every other day...I am worried about the long term effects, though.
Someone said that sebum could be irritating my scalp. I think they're right...last night, after I took down my hair for a shower (I'd had one on saturday night) my scalp was so itchy I just flung my hair forward and scratched like heck. Couldn't stop. After I washed it very thouroughly, I was fine. I have lots of big bumps around my hairline that I assumed were just weird, hard acne, but...I'm not sure, maybe I do have a mild case of this seborrhea.
In any case, I'm not sure what I'm going to end up doing with my hair. I feel much better about it and I feel much more comfortable when i was every other day and don't oil. Maybe I'm just not meant to have long hair forever...I don't want damaged hair, but I don't want to be unhappy with it, either. No win situation. |
